I find the experience valid for those who want to know the local history/culture. The tour was well conducted and we were well received on the island.
About 30 minutes by boat from Puno are these floating islands in rush. They are inhabited by a pre-Inca population, who settled on these islands to escape Inca domination. They lead a simple life, tourism gives them a big hand. It is estimated that in 20 years there will be no inhabitants on these islands, attracted by welfare and consumerism.
An overly commercial experience. They're just interested in how to get money out of you. They even include children to ask for money.
Lousy service! They didn't show up to pick me up at my hotel, they left me waiting for them. Now I lost the day and I have to buy another tour. What a lack of responsibility! I sent WhatsApp messages to the number they have registered here and they just didn't answer.
It was really interesting to learn about the culture and history. We were appreciative of the tour guides with being flexible with us! This tour was worth the time and money despite being a classic tourist trap. Eating the root of the reeds was a fun experience!
Unique in the world, a welcoming population that needs us to persist. The inhabitants sell their crafts , explain their construction s and their lives. In addition, a small tour in reed boats will be offered.
Awful experience. They never showed up and I waited for more than an hour at the meeting point. Tried to call and text them in WhatsApp, just got ignored even though they saw my messages. Wasted valuable time in Puno and weren't able to see the islands then.
The Floating Islands of Lake Titicaca are an unmissable and unforgettable tourist attraction in Puno with its traditional families inhabiting the numerous islands made of totora. They are artificial islands made with totora, a local aquatic plant in overlapping layers changed every 15 years and anchored with ropes so that they do not drift in the lake. There are accommodation facilities on some islands for those who wish to spend one or more nights staying on the islands, living more intensely in contact with the inhabitants of the floating islands of Uros, descendants of the Aymarás with origins older than the Incas. There, on the islands, explanations are given about the origin of the islands, local traditions, fishing, way of life and handicrafts made by families on the islands are sold.
The tour guide never showed up, I also received no contact from them. Luckily, I was able to re-book through my hostel. I am now in the process of receiving a refund.

I would not recommend this tour! It is very touristy and feels as though you are just being taken in a tour to be ripped off. It’s a shame as the islands themselves are very beautiful and interesting. The tour guide was dishonest with what the raft trip involved and then tried to lie about it when later questioned. Also the raft is 15 soles not 10 as it states.
Dear Mile We are sorry that you had an unfortunate experience, but nevertheless, in the description of the service we indicate that if the place is truly very touristy and that the families of the Uros find their livelihood thanks to the tourist activity, we will continue working to improve the Service.
