The Vatican, St Peters and Sistine Chapel are amazing. The tour guide we had seemed friendly and quite knowledgeable but she was tough to hear and we also had some unexplained delays. After meeting our guide we waited outside the Vatican for what felt like 30 minutes for no apparent reason. It's easier to expect the wait if you know why. Same thing happened once we got inside although I'm guessing this was for her to get tickets. I don't have a problem with this but again many in our group wondering why and an explanation would have resolved all the uncertainty. Headsets were provided to the tour guide and group once inside the Vatican but our guide was so softly spoken that even with the headsets it was difficult to hear. The headsets also needed to be returned halfway through the tour ( I don't know why) so for the remainder of the tour of st peter basilica, the Sistine chapel and some other venues the tour guide had no headsets and it was almost impossible for the group to hear what she was saying unless you were standing right next to her, which of course can be impossible with larger tour groups. The tour was still great I just felt I was missing out on a lot of interesting information because we could not hear the tour guide.
