Too hot to enjoy!

what sounded intriguing was a pretty miserable experience. We were outside in 95 degrees while the host kept talking for 20 minutes before providing anything to taste. There were a total of 6 people and 2 only spoke french, the others spoke english. He had an assistant that would repeat his french into english. It became challenging to listen to both of them talk at that same time. Then we moved to another location and a repeat. While they did provide great information and local history - it became too much in the heat so we left early. He was gracious enough to give us the cheeses we would miss (since we paid for it!!) He was a nice guy as was his assistant - but someone, and I think it was him - had really bad BO - so a little off setting!

Operator response

Hello Mary, We are delighted that you enjoyed most aspects of our cheese-themed food tour (the quality of our explanations, the quantity, the local cheeses, local wines, and local beer...), except for the conditions we cannot control (your tolerance for a temperature of 30°C, or the fact that you thought a food tour would be held indoors…). We are truly sorry that the experience did not fully meet your expectations. During the evening, you mentioned that you were expecting a Food Tour similar to the one you experienced in Lyon, i.e., a tour of several cheesemongers / cheese shops. This gives us an opportunity to reaffirm how our tour differs from traditional food tours: • We offer 100% outdoor Food Tours, consisting of a 2.5-hour walk through the historic center, on foot, and at the pace of a cart. • The "20-minutes stops without tasting anything" are intentional. They provide time for conversation and sensory games. They are also an opportunity for us to share historical anecdotes about the city and cheese. • To maintain quality and flow, we chose to have extra human resources. There were two guides for a group of just six people (three Americans and three French). This allowed for real-time translation rather than making the entire group waits. • As for the relatively high temperature (it was 30°C, not 35°C): in France, we use air conditioning less than in the US and are used to spending our summer evenings outside. I deliberately schedule these tours in the evening to minimize the heat. As for the comment on body odor, I apologize—we are French, and as everyone knows, we don’t wash! 😂 More seriously, I’m not quite sure I understand the point or the accuracy of this remark. In short, I am still sorry that the experience provided did not meet your expectations. I hope to see you again soon. Nathan from Les Compagnons du Fromage.

Recommended activity for body and mind!

Taste discovery with great stories about Toulouse. We thought we would taste some cheese, we rediscovered Toulouse and had a very pleasant time with Nathan and Flora. Walk, anecdotes about some sites and above all cheese tasting experience.

Cheese, Wine and History of Toulouse

Learned a lot about the city and cheese and wine pairings. I loved how this was a walking tour with stops along the way to admire and discuss architecture, history and of course food. The tour is in both English and French. Highly recommend!

Operator response

Hello Sara. Thank you very much for taking the time to leave such a positive review ! I see that the goal was achieved : strolling around Toulouse while taking the time to appreciate very good local products, especially wine and cheese, all while discussing French and regional culture. Thanks again for ordering the gourmet tour to discover the Pink City with a cheese specialist ! See you soon. Nathan
