We are an experienced shuttle service providing transport for visitors to and from the Tongariro National Park since the 90's. Tongariro Expeditions operates out of the Tongariro Crossing Park & Ride, a safe off road parking area near the track end at Ketetahi. We offer a complimentary afternoon shuttle back to your car between 1-5pm. With more than 25 years’ experience living and breathing the Tongariro lifestyle, the team at Tongariro Expeditions understand this unique alpine environment better than most. Alongside our Tongariro Alpine Crossing shuttle services, we also offer information, maps and comprehensive weather advice.

Exactly what we needed. Very straight forward. Booked the night before no problem. Hiked in offseason. Highly recommend.
It is magical in off season for sure. The weather can be stunning at times with not many people around. If you plan to aim for the off season, give yourself a week of staying in Taupo so your window of opportunity is big. There is plenty to do in the Central North Island.

Yes, as all outside activities are. It is wise to make sure you have a back up day so if you need to transfer to another day due to weather, that you can.
Very easy plan and organised well. As long as you turn up on time theyll get you to the head of the track and the pickup is easy.

The shuttle was so pleasant. Seats were comfy and staff were friendly and helpful when giving information and additional facts about the area. When my friend and i were exhausted from the trip we didn’t wait long at all for our shuttle to arrive

We keep a close eye on the weather and cancel if it is not safe to go ahead. It is always a great idea to have another day available up to go up, just in case. If we cancel due to weather you can either have a refund or transfer to another day.
Easy to find and park, fun driver who drove us to the start. It was easy and affordable if you do not have your own pick-up. The return bus ran every 10mi.

A truly incredible day from A to Z! We took the 7:30 shuttle because we slept in Taupo (1 hour drive), the parking is very large, the GPS point perfectly placed. We are greeted by a happy man with a smile. Shuttle at the time that brings us to the beginning of the hike. Extraordinary hike under a radiant sun, it's quite physical but we saw 8 year old children in it!! The view of the red crater, the lakes was splendid. Seeing the fumaroles come out of the ground moved me a lot too. The descent is varied among the vegetation sometimes clean, sometimes in forest.... Great! End of hike 15h30, the shuttle by chance was already there to bring us back to the parking in 10min! Great, I say! We finished the hike at 3:30 pm, and luckily, the shuttle was already there to take us back to the parking lot in 10 minutes! Amazing, I tell you! The communications were excellent keeping as up to date on weather related conditions. The drivers were good and we didn't have to wait very long for our pick up at the finish. Tongariro Expeditions becomes highly recommended.
