Itinerary
The tour begins at this architectural masterpiece, famous for its colossal stone figures holding lanterns that symbolize the gateway to the North. Designed by Eliel Saarinen, it is a world-renowned example of Finnish Art Nouveau and national romanticism. You will learn how this building influenced railway architecture globally and why it remains the city's most important transport hub.
This award-winning wooden structure is a futuristic "living room" for the city, representing Finland’s modern social and educational values. Its top floor offers a stunning "Book Heaven" with panoramic views of the Finnish Parliament and the surrounding urban landscape. It is a perfect example of how Helsinki blends cutting-edge technology with high-quality public space for all citizens.
Carved directly into ancient granite bedrock, this church is one of the most spectacular architectural sites in the Nordic countries. Natural light streams through 180 skylights in the copper-domed roof, illuminating the raw stone walls and creating a unique spiritual atmosphere. You will discover why its acoustics are considered among the best in the world, making it a premier venue for concerts.
Located in a lush seaside park, this abstract sculpture of over 600 steel pipes is a powerful tribute to Finland’s national composer, Jean Sibelius. The pipes are welded together to capture the sound of the wind, creating a permanent musical dialogue between art and the surrounding nature. It is an iconic symbol of the Finnish spirit and one of the most photographed monuments in the capital.
A premier example of functionalist architecture, this stadium was the center of the 1952 Summer Olympics and remains a symbol of Finnish athletic pride. You will see its iconic 72-meter tower and the nearby statue of the legendary "Flying Finn," Paavo Nurmi, captured in mid-stride. The site represents the nation's "Sisu" and its historical journey toward international recognition through sports.
This red-brick cathedral with its thirteen golden domes is the largest Orthodox church in Western Europe and dominates the city's skyline from a rocky hilltop. Its interior is richly decorated with traditional icons and incense-scented air, reflecting Finland’s historical ties to the East. The panoramic views from the cathedral's terrace offer a spectacular sight of the harbor and the Presidential Palace.
The grand neoclassical heart of the city is a perfectly preserved 19th-century ensemble designed by C.L. Engel. The dazzling white Helsinki Cathedral, with its green domes, towers over the square as the ultimate symbol of the capital. Surrounded by the University and the Government Palace, this square is the center of Finnish history, politics, and academic life.
Located right by the sea, the Market Square is a vibrant hub where you can experience local life, fresh berries, and traditional Finnish handicrafts.
Old Market Hall, opened in 1889, where you can sample authentic local delicacies like salmon soup and reindeer. It is the perfect place to conclude the tour, soaking in the maritime atmosphere of Helsinki’s historic harbor.

Nadia is an absolute gem. We were picked up on time, the van was roomie and clean with water and snacks provided. Mattias was an excellent driver and I actually fell asleep at times. Nadia’s warm personality and extensive knowledge makes the trip! I would say this is a perfect way to see Helsinki. Nadia even dropped us off at her recommended place to enjoy a traditional salmon soup and it was divine! We learned so much! Book it and you will not be disappointed.
We recently took a VIP tour of Helsinki and Porvoo, and it was truly a dream journey! Special mention goes to our guide, who was a true professional and a fountain of knowledge. Every stop was filled with fascinating facts, stories, and subtle details that you won’t find in guidebooks. He effortlessly adapted to our interests, making the tour highly personalized. Helsinki impressed us with its harmony of modernity and tradition, while Porvoo enchanted us with its charming old streets and wooden architecture. Our guide spoke with such passion about each place that it felt like he was sharing the secrets of an old friend. We were left with the brightest emotions and a strong desire to return!

The tour guide, Pascal, was excellent! Very informative, professional, and accommodating. Porvoo is a very quiet medieval town. Don't miss getting a Runeberg torte and one of the local cafes. It's fantastic. A really nice walk-around town.
