15 min

The biggest and most famous fountain of Rome. Trevi fountain was built to celebrate the restoration of an ancient roman aqueduct called Acqua Vergine (Vergin Water) which was built in 19BC. Needless to say it is truly worth a visit and don't forget to throw the coin in the right way...right hand over the left shoulder.

In 1651 Gian Lorenzo Bernini built this amazing fountain to support the 16 meters tall egyptian obelisk standing on top of it. The square (Piazza Navona) hides the Stadium of Domitian 5 meters below the ground.

15 min

In the heart of the Jewish Ghetto, there is a small and very beautiful fountain that gave its name to the 4 bronze turtles dangling from the upper level of the fountain.

5 min

The twin fountains were taken from the Caracalla baths. It is said that the Farnese family used them as balconies from where they enjoyed the performances in the square while sipping good wine.

10 min

This fountain, also known as Fontanone (the bigh Fountain), is a monumental fountain located on the Janiculum hill. It markes the end of the Acqua Paola aqueduct restored by Pope Paul V. This fountain was inspirational for the later Trevi Fountain.

This twin fountains were built by Maderno and Bernini to decorate St Peter's square.
