The Magical Highland Tour + optional Jacobite Steam Train Journey
Description
On this day tour from Edinburgh, you can see the Scottish Highlands, Glencoe, film locations and take a journey on the Jacobite Steam Train over the famous Glenfinnan Viaduct. We travel directly for Fort William to board the Jacobite Steam Train for the greatest railway journey in the world, it's the perfect way to see some of famous movie spots. One of the most iconic images in the films is that of the Jacobite Steam Train known to us all as the ‘Hogwarts Express’ travelling over the Glenfinnan Viaduct. On arrival to the fishing village of Mallaig, you will have a rest from location spotting to enjoy some free time in the village with many choices for lunch. From Mallaig you will again board the coach where we will have a stop at the Glenfinnan visitor centre for an excellent chance to photograph the steam train returning across the viaduct, before we return to Edinburgh via Pitlochry. This tour may operate in reverse of the itinerary. booking options: with train and without train.

Disembark our coach at Fort William and board the Jacobite Steam Train to Mallaig.
Our guide will show you as we pass many locations used in the filming of the Harry Potter movies.
The train will take you over this magnificent viaduct. A truly unique view crossing this iconic set from several Harry Potter movies.
The lunch stop is in this sleepy port, then onto Glenfinnan Visitor Centre for an excellent chance to photograph the steam train returning across the viaduct.
A brief 'leg-stretcher' stop in this lovely Victorian resort town.

We're on our way home from the Magical highland tour and steam train ride. Wanted to express our gratitude and thank you Mohamed. He really looked after us all, was knowledgeable and funny. We have had a brilliant day.
The tour itself was as described. The locations were beautiful, the motor coach was clean and as comfortable as can be expected. Good timing at the different stops, didn’t feel overly rushed. However, the guide, Brian, spoke too much. He used a microphone and went on unrelated tangents. Some of his rhetoric was rude, obnoxious, and condescending towards women. He made constant negative comments on his personal views of the current US administration, women drivers and compared them to bad drivers, and made comments related to the transgender community. His oversharing made the very long ride annoying and overwhelming because he wouldn’t stop talking! He even told some of the group to stop talking and to get off of face time during the ride. However, the steam train Stuart was excellent! He gave insightful facts, didn’t over share, and was very charming. His tip reflected how much we appreciated his professionalism and courtesy. I would go on this tour again but with a different guide.

Here we go again, discrimination for single people. Cant book a seat in first class if youre a single person travelling alone. You can only travel in standard class. Had to put up with this everywhere ive been in the Highlands. Pity I cant play the race card.

We would like to clarify that our tour package only includes standard class tickets for the Jacobite train journey, regardless of whether passengers are travelling solo, as a couple, or in a group. First Class tickets are managed separately by West Coast Railways and are not part of our tour packages. Guests wishing to travel in First Class would need to purchase these directly through them, subject to availability. There is no restriction based on travelling alone, and we sincerely apologise if this caused any misunderstanding. Brendan is a very entertaining, funny and an informative driver/tour guide. His funny comments made the tour more interesting. He also gives tips where to go for good spots and made sure we get on time on each locations. Truly a Scottish hospitality! Thank you!

Brendan the Legend Driver showed us the magic wonders of northern Scotland all the while regaling us with historical and humorous anecdotes. Having Scotland’s countryside brighten up with the rising sun was truly inspiring. The jacobite train ride was equally special. Definitely recommend this tour.
