Fantastic time experienced by my family on our first trip to Edinburgh. The actors were simply terrific with an enthusiastic performance to remember for certain! We were thoroughly entertained and learned about some famous literary figures in Edinburgh over the centuries. We stopped at three locations in town and enjoyed a pint or two or maybe three…. I highly recommend this event for any family visiting Edinburgh.
Truly a superb tour -- entertaining and educational and very well-run. This was the first thing that a Scottish friend who studied in Edinburgh recommended to me as a must-do, and it is certainly that. Well worth the cost and the time! Bring money for beer or whisky or gin. ;-) Paul ("Clart") and Emma ("McBrain") were simply fantastic. You'll appreciate this more if you read some Burns first.
Wow! These guys were a hit! Not only did they share context to several prominent authors and their stories, they introduced me to a few authors I hadn’t heard before. We learned the history of Edinburgh along the way. Very interesting and funny. We happened to go during the World Cup so they had boisterous crowds to compete with, but they led us to quiet spaces and captivated the group for two hours as we moved from space to space. Totally recommend!
This was cancelled at the last minute when it was too late to make other plans. I hope getting a refund will not be difficult but I am concerned based on other reviews.
A fantastic experience from start to finish. Real entertainment, laughs, energy, and everything you could want from spending a few hours at what felt like a show! Fantastic performances, good conversation, and real education. Not to mention a few great pints! Would recommend to anyone interested in seeing parts of Old Town and visiting a few great pubs with great actors.
Dougal and Emma were delightful (if ever so SLIGHTLY campy)...They won us over. Really quite knowledgeable and obviously thorough in their research AND rehearsal!! We weren't expecting what amounted to a moveable play, interspersed with narrative and room for our questions. Highly recommend!
The actors are so entertaining, their knowledge of the history of writers in Scotland is extensive. They incorporate song and quotes from famous literature as well as stories of Edinburgh- highly recommend!
My mom and I had such a great time on this tour led by Emma and Dougal! We learned so much, and appreciated all of the unique stops and stories/jokes along the way. It was a great welcome into Edinburgh for us!
