Tequila Tasting Experience | Cancún & Riviera Maya

This is so much fun ! We learned how to judge tequila. The food we ate between the tastings was excellent plus we had a dessert with Tequila in it. I don't drink Tequila unless it's in a BIG Margarita !! Our teacher, Miguel knew his stuff and he made it fun. Be adventurous and try it !!

Tequila University was an epic experience from start to finish! Picture this: sipping premium tequila with a view from a gorgeous rooftop, learning all the insider secrets behind every pour — and having a total blast doing it. We laughed, we learned, and we left feeling like certified tequila pros (literally — we got certificates and t-shirts!). Plus, we made some amazing new friends along the way. If you’re looking for a fun, unique, and unforgettable adventure — this is it. We’d recommend it a hundred times over!

So glad that we ventured away from the resort to explore local spots. We had the best time at Tequila University at La Sirena! Tastes of tequila paired with tasty bites! It was so much fun that we turned for Salsa Night on the roof, our farewell dinner on the list night of our trip.

I attended with my 21 year old twins. It was very interesting and we learned a lot about tequila and how it’s made and what differentiates tequila from mezcal and what constitutes the various types of tequila rankings and how to be an informed shopper of tequila at home and abroad. There were 5 different examples of tequila provided and each was served with a small delicious food / tapas pairing. The host Miguel was informative and entertaining. Our class was a group of 7 and we really enjoyed participating with the other lovely guests… it was quite fun. The venue itself was lovely and so was all the staff we interacted with. It’s up 2 short flights of stairs on the top of La Serena restaurant . Close to the town square to catch a taxi home.

We did Tequila U on our last visit to Puerto Morelos. We had a great time learning about the history and differences in Tequila. The professor was fun and engaging, made it lighthearted and entertaining. We will be back for our Bachelors Degree next month. We always enjoy going to LaSirena every trip, the owner Anthony and his staff are always exceptional and the food is great.

I learned how to identify authentic tequila not only from the presentation but also from tasting. The food that accompanies each tasting was authentic and perfectly presented.

Always a great meal and service. Local and Greek cuisine. Quiet dining area or watch sports on high resolution TV’s by the bar. A must dine in PM.

We are now Tequila alumni, after attending the best course we’ve ever attended in our life, and we have the diploma to prove it! This should be on everyone’s to-do list. With La Sirena’s ambiance and Miguel’s unabridged energy, Miguel will explain the history and types of tequila as well as correcting any myths or beliefs that you have had beforehand. More importantly, you will know how to distinguish between authentic and adulterated tequila. Each tasting is paired with a tapas made by La Sirena’s chef extraordinaire. Each tapas were works of art with a uniqueness and creativity that made us crave to sample it. You should know though, for you to graduate and receive your diploma, you do need to pass a small quiz, so pay attention to Miguel. He makes up the questions on the fly, so there’s no point passing on our questions. By the way we passed with A+, while Miguel mentioned in the past some were a D- (chuckle).

We had a great time with the entire staff at La Sirena Restaurant and Bar a fun and friendly atmosphere, we meet Miguel and Alex at the outdoor patio where they told us what to expect. So it started with ( none other than) a shot of tequila where Miguel the Tequila Sommelier explained all about the tequila and the process of making it, how to tell if it is certified and where it was produced at. After several shots of tequila each shot was paired with a different tapa recommended by the chef and served by Alex. We would highly recommend this to anyone in the Puerto Morelos area resorts, group size doesn’t matter, the team is very accommodating. Making reservations was easy and communicated withe the staff though WhatsApp.

This tequila tasting was the best tasting I've ever experienced! Our group of family and friends were able to sample some exclusive tequila we had never heard of previously! The tequila was very smooth and some were very flavorful. We learned so much about the tequila process, how to identify quality tequila, and we all graduated from the class with a certificate and T-shirt to show off our tequila expertise! The tequila was excellently paired with tapas and just as memorable as the tequila!!! We stayed in the Hotel Zone area of Cancun and arranged for transportation to take us to the restaurant, which was easy. I would highly recommend visiting the Tequila University!
