An truly excellent experience

We were not expecting great things, having been victims of group tours before. How wrong we were. Fabulous Maori people sharing their language and customs with us. It was fun, informative and incredibly well run. Thank you to everyone involved with the performance and culture sharing, followed by an excellent meal with wines. We were so surprised by the entire evening and it was a privilege to have done it.

Operator response

Kia Ora Wendy, Thank you so much for this truly heartwarming 5-star review! We absolutely love hearing that your expectations were not only met but completely transformed, this is exactly what we strive for. It’s wonderful to know that the Māori hosts, their storytelling, language, and cultural sharing made the evening feel fun, informative, and deeply meaningful. We’re delighted that the performance, seamless organisation, and the beautiful meal with wines all came together to create such a memorable and surprising experience. Your words about it being a privilege to take part genuinely mean a lot to us and to everyone involved. Thank you for trusting us and for sharing such thoughtful feedback. Fabulous evening of learning, food and entertainment

I had no idea what to expect. But all I’ve learned of the Māori people I love. The entertainment was phenomenal. We were taught customs and ways of life. They had at least 2 dining halls holding 70 people approx. the food that came out never ended. Beautiful tea cups, for tea coffee and 3 different desserts for each person. Don’t miss.

A culturally enriching Māori experience

I wasn’t sure what to expect from this experience, but it greatly exceeded all our hopes. This is not for the faint hearted as you are welcomed by the fearsome Māori warriors upon arrival. Once you survive the greeting it becomes evident this is an incredibly talented family. It’s an immersive experience whereby you take part in games, sports, foods and finally get to practice the Haka yourself. Not quite as easy as it looks :) There’s a great mix of culture, fun and plenty of laughs. The final performance of the Haka up close and personal delivers the intimidation as seen on the rugby field. It is awesome to watch live. Dinner in the dining hall is delivered in multiple courses of foods cooked the traditional way, and it’s excessive so don’t eat for 24 hours prior! This is a family clearly very proud of their culture and what they do here. The Chiefs daughter is a serious talent, and we couldn’t have been more impressed by how professional and enjoyable the evening was. This experience is worth travelling to Rotorua on its own for. Thanks to everyone for a fantastic night and experience 🙏🏻

This is a must do if you are in Auckland!

My husband and I went on the private tour from Auckland of the Te Pa Tu Cultural Experience. It was absolutely incredible! The experience was educational, enlightening and so enjoyable. The food was also amazing - so good and so much of it! If you want to learn about the Māori people and culture, this is the place to do it for sure. Our driver and guide, Karthik, was also incredible. This is a very long day - about 11 hours, and he kept us entertained and enlightened with so much history, culture, details of plants, geology, just about everything you could ever want to know about the area. We really loved our time with Karthik and highly recommend him to anyone coming to the area!

Māori culture option for Auckland visitor

Visiting Māori culture center was important to me so I was happy to have the option to private transfer from Auckland to Rotorua, back to Auckland. Karthik was a great guide to have with me. He was courteous, knowledgeable, and enthusiastic. This cultural experience includes dance performance and educational info. Other attendees shared that they preferred this experience because it was more interactive versus other options they had attended. Thank you for hosting me.

Unlike Anything Else

My family and I very much enjoyed this cultural experience. It was unlike anything we have seen before. The performers and staff are warm, informative, sincere and charming. The venue is unique and picturesque. The canapés were adventurous yet delicious and popular with all. Our driver Dibs was courteous, efficient and well organized. We highly recommend it.

Amazing!

Thank you to all from the bus driver to all of the participants in the storytelling and the show! And thank you for the nice food. We loved it all and our nine year old is now practicing the Maori words. *We got knowledge about traditions in a fun way. *Perfect group size. *Very enthusiastic and talented people!! *An amazing dance and singing show. (The Haka is still my favorite!!) *Fun with a song in every language represented. *Very good food. I think the most important was, that the people was so enthusiastic and prowd of their history. That really made the entire experience perfect.

Very Entertaining

From the bus ride into their village, to the final meal, it was entertaining and educational. There are a few of these group shows to choose from, this is a smaller group show. I highly recommend this one. I would not have enjoyed as much with the larger group.
