Very much worth the price. A friend recommended the Floatplane experience while in port at Juneau on our cruise to Alaska. It was a spectacular experience! Seeing glaciers from the air and the narration during the flight was better than any cruise by sighting. At the lodge, the hosts were welcoming and the food was fantastic.
Seeing the glaciers from a sea plane was amazing and breathtaking. We booked an 11:30 timeslot but our ship came in a few minutes early and they were very accommodating at letting us get on an earlier flight to maximize our port time in Juneau. The lodge itself was also stunning. Great view of a glacier, beautiful scenic trails, friends staff, great food, clean restrooms…all around a great experience. My only complaint would be the bugs at the lodge. They do provide bug spray though, so I recommend asking where to find that before you wander off on any of the trails.
It was an exciting experience. The take off and landing in the water was very smooth. The visuals from the sky were spectacular. This Juneau was made to celebrate our 60th wedding anniversary and we both feel it was the highlight of the trip. Highly recommend booking a flight as you will not regret it.
Beautiful flight across glaciers and mountains to secluded lake lodge. Wonderful experience. Smooth flight. Delicious meal. Warm hospitality.
What an awesome way to see the Alaskan glaciers and the area around Juneau. The seaplane ride was smooth and comfortable. Of course the views from the plane were spectacular and not obtainable in any other way but by air. The pre-recorded trip narration was well done and informative. The relaxing BBQ salmon "feast" at the Taku Lodge was excellent, and there was so much food it really was a feast. We really enjoyed the lemonade because they cooled it with perfectly clear and clean ice harvested from the nearby glacier.
We loved this experience! Yes it’s pricey, but so worth it. The plane ride was awesome and our pilot put us all at ease. Being able to see the entire glacier was something you can only appreciate from the air. Lunch was delicious and plentiful. The history of the lodge was so interesting and the gal who spoke about it after lunch was very informative. The grounds are lovely, but the huge mosquitoes that descended upon us kept us mostly inside.
Majestic!! This excursion was just incredible. Wings Airways did an amazing job. We got close up views of the mountains and the glaciers. I had no idea the glaciers were so large, so beautiful. The meal at the lodge was incredible. Be sure to arrive hungry! And the ice in our tea…..straight from a glacier. The salmon was melt-in-your-mouth delicious. Smoked over alder wood. Mmmmm. Thanks to Nick for his storytelling & guiding us on the short but lovely hike and taking pictures for us all!! I highly recommend this if you are able. It was an experience I will not forget!!
Loved this excursion! Wish we could have seen more wildlife. Pilots were excellent, Taku Lodge folks prepared delicious comfort food. Had the best tasting salmon ever! Guides were informative and fun!
Unique opportunity to explore Alaska unlike many other tours. Excellent staffing, pilot was superbly professional yet engaging. The food was exceptional and fun to watch salmon being prepared. Not to mention hearing about the bear visiting and cleaning off the grill. A bit pricey for sure- but worth saving up for. The lodge was perfect setting for group dinner- crowded but not oppresive.
This is a great tour. Our pilot John was great. Very friendly and we had a super smooth flight. The Taku Glacier lodge is amazing and the salmon bake dinner was fantastic.
