In the 15th century the powerful Squarcialupi family settled in the Squarcialupi Palace, in the center of the town, taking advantage of its strategic position. From the oldest vineyards, at an altitude of 600 m, on the southern hill of Castellina in Chianti, balanced wines are obtained whit fruity and floral aromas, a feature of the "Squarcialupi" line. The vineyards adjacent to the village that descend from the south-west slope, produce the grapes for the "La Castellina" line, distinguished by an imprint of international varieties, which bring body and notes of ripe fruits. Descending to the altitude of 350 m is the property "Ricudda", a natural basin exposed to the south that produces organic wines of great territorial expression.

The Guidi winery was founded back in 1929, when it already showed that distinctive nature, in other words the traits of a family-run business, which is still its distinguishing mark, with a longstanding know-how that has been handed down, generation after generation, from father to son. Today, the experience of the fathers is joined by the innovative creativity of their offspring: a winning mix that has led the Guidi winery to renew itself, year after year, and to present today a line of wines that are the expression of the Tuscan territory, cared for down to the smallest details. It was an amazing experience from the start, guide was fun and knowledgeable and explained a lot about the wine country. The winery’s were both amazing and made us feel welcome and part of family. You could feel the passion for the wine making and see the family love of the business. It was amazing and would repeat again.
We had an amazing day exploring the Chianti Classico area. The 2 vineyards we visited were excellent and learnt a lot about the wines, olive oil and the region.

This was the highlight of our entire trip to Europe! It exceeded every high expectation. Our guide, Martina, was very organized and communicative throughout the entire process of booking the trip. She met us promptly and drove us through the Tuscan country side. She was incredibly knowledgeable of the area and the wine (she is a somm!!) and spoke perfect English. We went to two wineries, both of which were stunningly beautiful yet pleasantly different from each other. At each vineyard, a private tasting was arranged with plentiful, delicious snacks, overlooking the Tuscan hillside. The wine was indescribably good and shipping to the US was easily arranged. In contrast to other winery visits that we have experienced, this felt peaceful, authentic, and personal. Highly recommend and will encourage all our family and friends to do it, too. Well worth the price.
The four of us (my husband, 2 grown children and me) all agree the day spent on this tour was our best day in Italy. Not only was the wine we tasted amazing, the extras of the tour really added up. Martina, our guide, took time to explain Chianti wine, and the organic wine making rules and process. We felt like we really got to live a day in Italy rather than just being tourists. All of this was due to the warm hospitality and efforts of Martina.
