A cathedral has stood on this site since the year 604 and the current Cathedral is now the fourth to have been built here after the 1666 Great Fire of London destroyed its predecessor. St Paul's is England's place of national celebration and has hosted Royal Weddings such as that of Prince Charles and Lady Diana Spencer in 1981 and Diamond Jubilee celebrations for both Queen Victoria and Queen Elizabeth II. St Paul's Cathedral is famous for its iconic Dome which you can climb up to three circular viewing points. - No bags or items larger than 45cm x 30cm x 25cm (including handles, wheels and pockets).
- Personal non-flash photography is permitted inside the Cathedral except on the Whispering Gallery. The recording of video and the use of lighting, selfie sticks, tripods and monopods are not permitted.
- Child ticket holders (available to those aged 6-15) must be accompanied and supervised by an adult aged 18 or over when accessing the Dome Galleries.
- Please note: Special services or events may close all, or part, of the cathedral at short notice. Please check specific sightseeing opening hours before you visit.
- Multimedia guides are included. If you are interested in a real tour guide at certain times a day you are able to reserve a place at the guiding desk when you arrive at the cathedral. It is not possible to make reservations in advance.
- Entry into the Cathedral is accessible to wheelchair users and step free access is available throughout and between the Cathedral Floor and Crypt. However access to the Dome Galleries is unavoidably via stairs only which are narrow and steep in places. A video of the views from the climb can be found on the multimedia guide.
- A self-identifying disabled person may receive free entry along with a carer or necessary companion (all such free places are allocated on arrival and cannot be booked).
- Entrance to the Golden Gallery is subject to availability due to capacity controls in operation, and there may be time restrictions in place.

This is possibly my fifth trip and every time, I find something new. I live in the London area and always recommend a trip to St Paul’s to visiting friends. The art and architecture are just amazing and the staff is very kind and helpful. If you’re figuring out your trip to London, this one is an essential. If you’re a history buff, the timeline in the crypt of the history of St. Paul’s in comparison to other historical events is very enjoyable.
I went to my friend's recommended 5 p.m. service, and I heard a racist talk about appearance from a British couple sitting next door. To protest, he spoke "English Church," and traveled right in front of the church because of the same nationality. It is so unpleasant that I will never go again and I would not recommend it.
An awe-inspiring cathedral with an amazing history, fascinating monuments and amazing views. When I visited, I went on the free 90 minute tour which was absolutely brilliant and allowed access to areas not open to the public. This is limited to 20 people so sign up as soon as you arrive. The tour focused on key sights and the guide was excellent - knowledgeable and he kept things moving well. After the tour, I took time to explore and climbed to the golden gallery at the very top.of the dome which allows you to see the most amazing view of London. A must visit.
Absolutely a must-do! It was a feast for the eyes. The tour is very rich in detail, and the audio guides are available in several languages and included in the price of the tour. We moved at our own pace. Not too crowded. We went all the way to the top. A magnificent view, although you have to climb the steps. It was perfect!
A building as imposing on the outside as it is on the inside! Audio guides, in several languages and very detailed, allow for a pleasant visit where everyone follows their own pace without rushing and can take the time to admire the place. The cathedral itself is incredible and so rich in history and architecture. For the brave, the 3 galleries are also impressive: the 1st, interior, Whispering Gallery (257 steps or accessible by elevator for wheelchairs only); the 2nd, exterior, Stone Gallery (376 steps); and the last, also exterior, Golden Gallery (528 steps) and it is better not to be claustrophobic... it is very narrow! More accessible, the Crypt houses more than one illustrious burial (Wellington, Nelson, Florence Nightingale and others) as well as a pretty chapel. It leads to the shop that is worth a look. A visit not to be missed!
Last minute decision but so worth it! There were audio guides included with admission, and it wasn’t terribly crowded since we got there at opening. The tour of the dome started at 9:30, so plan on staying to climb the top if possible.
An absolute amazing cathedral to visit when in London.
Easy access. Complementary tours were provided once inside that gave great information and access to parts of the cathedral the general public doesn’t see.
IN some ways this was the best tour I did on ALL my excursions over my 14 days in London. This tour was not expensive, easy access to Cathedral then for no extra money, they immediately set me up with a small group guided by Jane.
Did this as part of a tour group. Historical cathedral with some significant people interred there. We decided to walk up to the top -- be darn sure you are prepared -- it is over 500 steps and has some narrow portions. The views are spectacular though.
