Itinerary
Meet your ghoulish guide - The Butcher - by the castle gates. Get acquainted as she regales you with tales about the family that haunts the castle.
Learn about the history of this infamously unfortunate Church. Dare you stand in its porch on All Saints Eve?
Giving spirits a whole new meaning
Look out for a drunken old lady and her little dog, Tag, as you traverse Thanet's Canal.
Discover Skipton's witches and magical trees...
The word 'skip' in old english translates to 'scaep', meaning 'sheep', so we could go around calling it 'sheepton', but we won't.
Learn all about Skipton's infamous yards. Keep an eye out for their miserable (and very smelly) dead residents...
A pub allegedly haunted by a gang of plagued soldiers. So that's where all the beer goes...
The butcher will end her tour underneath one of Skipton's lovely linden trees. It's prohibited to tell a lie underneath one of those, so give The Butcher your honest review about her tour, but expect the truth in return...

My husband and I booked this tour on a rare child free weekend away in Skipton and we’re not disappointed. From the very beginning, The Butcher was entertaining, engaging and extremely knowledgeable. She had the perfect balance of knowledge, comedy, scary tales and lingering eye contact to make the hour long walk very enjoyable. We purchased the optional emotional support ghosts (to then gift to our children afterwards), and they were a delight, very cute and cuddly, so much so I almost couldn’t pass it on to our 8 year old!
Lovely lady who gave us the tour, very funny and sweet, great fun, thankyou!
A fun and very informative tour. The tour guide 'The Butcher' was full of information and puns. We learned a lot of interesting facts about the history of Skipton and related ghost stories. Would definitely recommend.
Tour guide arrived 5 minutes early and Tour started on time. 'The Butcher' was very informative about the history of locations around Skipton but also told of ghosts in the area too. This was done in a light hearted and amusing way. My favourite were the sticky ghosts. If you want to know more about that then you need to do the tour lol
Informative, funny and sometimes slightly scary. A very knowledgeable guide and well worth the money
Great tour. So much information given in a very entertaining way by “The Butcher” Would highly recommend
The tour was a great chance to learn more about the history of Skipton and The Butcher was very good at making it super spooky! We went for the 6:30 tour so it was still light, but I’d definitely recommend doing the later one so it’s dark if you want it to be extra spooky!
Plenty of information about lots of ghosts around Skipton,. Great acting, great jokes, great tour!
A good fun hour! We loved our emotional support ghosts. Couldn’t always hear the lady very well but that’s usually the case with these walking tours. She had a good repertoire of puns.
