Itinerary
Being the burial place of St Peter Rome, the Vatican has always been considered a holy city – a second Jerusalem, but besides that its museum is a chest of countless masterpieces: the astonishing gallery of statues, the fascinating gallery of maps, the gallery of tapestries and the Raphaels rooms. During your visit to the Vatican Museums you will have the opportunity to learn about the great artists who helped embellish one of the most fascinating sovereign states in the world.
Than prepare yourselves for a Stendhal syndrome effect as you enter the Sistine Chapel and lift your head up to the the most-probably most-famous and most-admired ceiling in the world and immerse yourselves into the “last judgment”, the seemingly never-ending fresco magnificently adorned by Michelangelo’s life-like, potent figures of Adam, God and Saints, and try to spot the artist’s self portrait on St. Bartholomew! Here the conclaves of cardinals have come together periodically, throughout the centuries, to elect a new pope, and Pope John Paul II called it the “Holy Spirit’s place of action”.
ONLY IF VATICAN+ST PETER'S OPTION IS SELECTED you will be accompanied by your guide to skip the line to the St. Peter's Basilica and be captivated by its beauty, from Michelangelo’s Pietà to Bernini’s enormous bronze altar. Please note: the Basilica option includes entry tickets only and does not include a guided tour inside the Basilica itself. Once inside, you are free to explore independently and admire the grandeur of one of the most magnificent churches in the world. To elevate your independent visit, you’ll receive access to our curated Basilica app, including an interactive digital map, carefully selected highlights, and expert commentary to ensure a seamless and enriching self-guided experience.

A fantastic way to visit the Vatican and St Peter’s Basilica. The tour was very well organised from start to finish and the skip-the-line access saved a huge amount of time. Our guide was excellent, providing interesting historical information and stories throughout the tour that really brought the sites to life. One of the highlights was the smaller group size. With only around 14 people, the experience felt much more personal and enjoyable than some of the larger tours we saw. It was easy to follow along, hear the commentary and ask questions. The Vatican Museums and St Peter’s Basilica were absolutely incredible and this tour helped us appreciate much more than we would have if we had explored on our own. The only challenge was the extreme summer heat. Temperatures reached around 38°C and, given the age and historical nature of the buildings, there is limited air conditioning in some areas. It made parts of the tour quite warm, although this is obviously beyond the control of the tour company. Overall, a wonderful experience and excellent value. We would happily recommend this tour to anyone visiting Rome.
Excellent tour and highly recommended. Our tour guide was fantastic – knowledgeable, engaging and clearly passionate about the history of the Vatican and St Peter’s Basilica. Having a smaller group of only 14 people made a huge difference, as it was easy to hear the guide, ask questions and move through the sites without feeling lost in a crowd. The skip-the-line aspect was worth it and allowed us to make the most of our time. The guide provided fascinating insights and details that we would never have appreciated had we visited on our own. The only downside was the weather, with temperatures reaching 38°C on the day of our tour. Much of the experience takes place within historic buildings that understandably do not have modern air conditioning, so it was extremely hot at times. This is obviously not the fault of the tour operator, but something future visitors should be prepared for if travelling during summer. Overall, a 10/10 experience. Great guide, well-organised tour, manageable group size and an excellent way to experience the Vatican and St Peter’s Basilica.
Fantastic tour with an excellent guide!
Very thorough tour, though felt rushed at several points. We spent 2 1/2 hours but literally walked through several rooms without even taking the time to allow us to look around a bit. We found the title misleading- it is a guided tour ONLY of the Vatican and Sistine Chapel but NOT for St Peter’s Basilica. At check-in, the host was not helpful for assisting us with what we feel we clearly paid for. Guide was very knowledgeable but the earpieces are terrible and was very hard to understand, especially given the very thick accent.
Julia our guide was simply fantastic! She made the tour of the Vatican museums the most memorable part of our visit to Rome! She was very knowledgeable but never dry nor boring! The Vatican museums become much more interesting and memorable because of her. Grazie Julia!
Manola was an extremely educated and wonderful guide!
Our tour guide, Fabrizio, was amazing. Knowledgeable, engaging - his passion for the Vatican and the collections was clear. He kept our entire party engaged for the entire tour. Would highly recommend.
The most amazing tour! Our tour guide was super knowledgeable and kind. The team had organized it very well and gave us headsets to follow along with the information given by our tour guide. Truly a wonderful experience and will definitely book them again for our next trip!
I had a private tour with Kate of Sistine Chapel and the Vatican Museums. Kate was extremely knowledgeable, kind, and very fun to spending time with. Plus she got us around expertly!
The Vatican and Sistine Chapel tour were interesting and beautiful. However, our English speaking guide was very difficult to understand, partially because of his heavy Italian accent and his tone and partly because the audio system was subpar. Most of us had to have periods of time with no earpiece in. If I had to do it again, I probably would ask and make sure I had someone who spoke clear English.
