Itinerary
Together with your guide, set foot inside the smallest country in the world via the fastest possible entrance!
One of the first stops inside the Vatican Museums is the Pinecone Courtyard where you will find the Sphere within a Sphere sculpture as well as the Roman fountain, an enormous bronze pinecone, that lends the courtyard its name.
The bronze Sphere within a Sphere sculpture by Arnaldo Pomodoro marries this historic setting with a touch of modern art.
The Vatican Museums are made up of multiple Museums forming many "wings". The wing containing the highest concentration of highlights is the Pio Clementino Museum. Follow your guide from the Octagonal open-air courtyard where you will encounter the Laocoonte and Apollo Belvedere, to the eerily life-like statues in the Room of the Animals. Check out the masterfully painted vaults creating a 3D effect in the Gallery of the Candelabra.
The Gallery of Candelabra takes its name from the pairs of intricately carved marble candelabra that line this striking corridor within the Vatican Museums. Beyond these ancient Roman pieces, the gallery features an impressive array of classical statues and richly frescoed ceilings, providing a taste of antiquity before leading into the Gallery of Tapestries and Maps.
One of the most captivating halls in the Vatican Museums, the Gallery of Tapestries houses a remarkable collection of monumental 16th-century tapestries woven from designs by Raphael's workshop. Illustrating scenes from the life of Christ, their intricate detail and masterful craftsmanship make this gallery an unmissable highlight of any visit.
In this Gallery of hand-painted maps, you can admire the world how it was seen nearly 5 centuries ago. With the help of your guide, pick out the towns in Italy you have visited, or just enjoy the incredible hand-painted details that make these maps unique.
"Raphael's Rooms" inside the Vatican Museums are a spectacular testament to the talent of the painter Raphael, as well the inspiration of the master Michelangelo. Explore them with your guide.
Your guide will prepare you to take in the Sistine Chapel ahead of time, as no speaking is allowed in this sacred place. Admire this monumental work by Michelangelo.
Only when specific guided tour option including the Basilica is chosen, Skip the Line access to St. Peter's Basilica via a special exit from the Sistine Chapel. You will then be free to explore on your own inside.
If you choose an option including a tour of St. Peter's Basilica, access is provided, skipping the lines. You will be free to explore on your own inside.

This was such a great tour, and our guide truly made the experience. He was incredibly knowledgeable, funny, engaging, and genuinely caring toward everyone in the group. He couldn’t have been better. The Vatican Museums, Sistine Chapel, and St. Peter’s Basilica were all beautiful, and I’m so glad we chose a tour that included all three. Skipping the line was absolutely worth it too. The length of the tour was perfect. It was an incredibly hot day, and we felt like we saw everything we wanted to see without the tour going on for too long or becoming exhausting. I would highly recommend this tour with EcoArt Travel. It was definitely one of the highlights of our trip.

Thank you for choosing EcoArt and for your kind recommendation. We truly appreciate it and hope to welcome you back to Rome for another memorable experience!
Maria Laura does such a great job in describing the art and history. I felt I came away with alot of information. If visiting in summer of 2026, most facilities do not have A/C.
Thank you so much for sharing your experience with us, dear Michelle! We’re delighted to hear that you enjoyed your tour with Maria Laura and especially appreciated the way she brought the art and history to life. It’s wonderful to know that you came away from the experience with so much new knowledge, and we’ll be very happy to share your kind words with her. Thank you for choosing EcoArt, and we hope to welcome you back to Rome again!
The guide was personable and knowledgeable. However there was too long a runway to getting into the Vatican. Additionally this tour focused on archaeological info and artifacts rather than the Renaissance art I was expecting. I felt the tour was overly long.
Thank you for your feedback, dear Lyn! We're pleased to hear that you found your guide personable and knowledgeable. Your booking included skip-the-line entry, allowing you to avoid the much longer general admission queue. While there is still a mandatory security check and a walk through the entrance procedures, these are managed by the Vatican and apply to all visitors. Regarding the tour content, our guides aim to provide a comprehensive overview of the Vatican Museums, covering the different historical periods represented in the collections, including archaeology, classical art, and Renaissance masterpieces. We understand that every guest has different interests, and we appreciate your comments.
In my opinion i was Totally misold this tour. The tour is ' vatican museum sistine chapel & St peters basillica. Vatican museum and sistine chapel visited with tour guide excellent. we entered the sistine chapel anddour guide left us there. We were not shown how or guided to St Peters basillica left in the sistine chapel to our own devices. We were sold that St peters was part of the tour. We were also told that the tour would end on the opposite side of St Peter's square. That didn't happen we found our own way out and of course that was next to the entrance. No guide no information and no entry to the basillica bitterly disappointed. My first holiday with my grown up daughters. Do Not Book This Tour !
Thank you for your feedback. We are sorry to hear that your experience did not meet your expectations. We would like to clarify that you booked a guided tour of the Vatican Museums and Sistine Chapel, which did not include access to St. Peter's Basilica. Please note that the title displayed online is a general title used for all the Vatican tour options we offer. During the booking process, you selected the option without Basilica access. Access to St. Peter's Basilica is available only with selected tours departing between 8:00 AM and 1:00 PM (excluding Wednesdays) and is always subject to availability. If you still wish to visit the Basilica, you are welcome to do so independently. Entrance is free via St. Peter's Square, by joining the general admission line and passing through the mandatory security check. We are sorry that this caused disappointment, but the service provided was exactly the one selected and booked. Warmest regards, EcoArt Team
Sarah has a very bright energy! She brought history to life. It could have been a tour about anything and she would have made it fun and engaging. She also shared fun historical facts. We would specifically request her if we come again. Thanks for such great time!
Thank you so much for your wonderful review! We're thrilled to hear that Sarah made your experience so memorable. Her enthusiasm, knowledge, and ability to bring history to life are exactly what we strive for, and she'll be delighted to read your kind words. We truly appreciate your recommendation and would be delighted to welcome you back on another tour with Sarah in the future!
It was very exhausting / repetitive so many explanations by the museum - we arrived at the Sistine chapel very tired and then we visited the St. Peter Cathedral alone. It would have been much cheaper with more time freedom and less tiring if we had gone on our own
Thank you for taking the time to share your feedback. You booked a guided tour of the Vatican Museums and Sistine Chapel, where the Vatican Museums make up approximately more than 95% of the visit. The guided tour lasts about 2.5 hours, with the Sistine Chapel being the final stop of the itinerary. We also offer hosted tickets without a guided tour for guests who prefer to explore independently and at their own pace. However, by booking the guided tour, the itinerary and the detailed explanations throughout the Museums are an integral part of the experience and are exactly what the tour is designed to provide. We appreciate your comments and are sorry to hear that this style of visit did not match your personal expectations. Thank you, we look forward to seeing you again in the future Warmest regards, EcoArt Team
Eddy “the most handsome man in Rome” was our tour guide and he was incredible. His background as an archeologist gave him the upper hand and us the best tour ever. His knowledge and charisma made the tour interesting and fun. He was funny and kept things moving at the right pace. Thank You Eddy!!
Thank you so much for your fantastic review, dear Leticia! We're thrilled to hear that Eddy made your experience so memorable. Patricia did an excellent job moving us through the vast sections of the museums, Sistine Chapel and St. Peter’s Basilica. Very knowledgeable about many sculptures and paintings, tapestries and maps. We learned a lot in what could be a very overwhelming place.
