Itinerary
Visit the Vatican Museums & Sistine Chapel on your own or with a guide (if option selected). Tickets provide skip the line access.
Explore one of the Vatican's many open air courtyards. This one is decorated with a giant bronze pinecone sculpture, giving the courtyard its name.
Access Vatican Museums and discover the famous "Sphere within a Sphere" sculpture.
The Vatican Museums are divided into many smaller, unique museums. Among them, the Museo Pio Clementino is likely the most important, and the many highlights it contains cannot be missed! Stop at the Octagonal Courtyard for the Laocoonte and the Apollo Belvedere -- or the Round Room for the giant marble bathtub patrolled by an enormous bronze statue of Heracles. Spot a sculpture of your favorite fauna at the Room of the Animals, or just marvel at the 3D painted vaults of the Gallery of the Candelabra.
One of the most popular galleries of the Museums, make a stop here and try to spot the Italian cities you have travelled to, or your ancestor's hometown. These hand-painted maps, dating to the late 1500's, can also be admired for the exquisite attention to detail and embellishments. See if you can spot the nod to Christopher Columbus' voyage across the Atlantic...
Admire Raphael's Rooms -- painted by the master himself and his pupils around the same time as the Sistine Chapel -- and inspired and challenged by Michelangelo's greatest masterpiece.
Michelangelo's masterpiece, take time to admire the vaults.
Your visit ends at the entrance of the Vatican Museums. From here, you are free to continue to explore on your own within official opening hours.
Only for tours where the option to access St. Peter's Basilica is selected in the booking process, access directly from the Sistine Chapel to the Basilica, skipping the outside security lines, will be provided. Your tour will end at the entrance to the Basilica and, after an introduction, you will be free to explore on your own inside.
An introduction to the Square of St. Peter's will be provided for tours where access to St. Peter's Basilica is included.

The tour was outstanding. Carolina was an excellent guide. It was hot and crowded but we were able to see things and get educated on the art. Sistine Chapel was beautiful!
Asunta was an amazing tour guide! She was a wealth of knowledge and very friendly. There was one older lady and an eight year old girl, and she made sure they were comfortable. She also was a good guide that allowed us to navigate the Vatican and Sistine chapel smoothly.
Such a great and thorough tour of the Vatican! The family absolutely loved it. Tour guides are very well studied on everything Vatican related. Highly recommend.
Martina was fun and very knowledgeable! We had a very nice time. She went above and beyond!
Excellent tour! Katalina was an amazing guide and navigated through the rooms and buildings of the Vatican with a lot of knowledge. 10/10 experience
I have always had good luck with Viator tours. . This one was terrible. The guide was sloppy and inefficient. He used the f- word, presumably to make a point. After an hour and 15 minutes, we were still looking at a random statue outside, missing 95% of the walk through the museum. I finally left and found the Sistine Chapel on my own. I requested 50% of my money back, but on second thought I should have requested all of it.
The tour was amazing, it truly was an experience, and for 3 hours I felt like I was back in time. Our guide Catalina was exceptionally knowledgeable and answered our thousand questions with joy and a smile.
Good morning from EcoArt, dear Saif! Thank you so much for your wonderful review! She will be thrilled to know that she was able to answer all your questions with such warmth and passion. We’ll be sure to share your kind words with Catalina. Thank you again for your feedback, and we hope to welcome you on another tour in the future! Warmest regards, EcoArt Team
This tour was absolutely worth it. The Vatican Museums are enormous, and having a knowledgeable guide made the experience so much more meaningful. The skip-the-line access saved us a lot of time and allowed us to focus on enjoying the incredible art and history. Our guide was engaging, informative, and did an excellent job explaining the significance of the museums, Raphael's Rooms, the Gallery of Maps, and, of course, the breathtaking Sistine Chapel. Being able to enter St. Peter's Basilica directly from the Sistine Chapel without waiting in another long line was a huge advantage. This was one of the highlights of our time in Rome. If you want to truly appreciate the Vatican without feeling overwhelmed, I highly recommend this tour.
Dear Kristi, Thank you so much for your wonderful review! We are delighted to hear that you found the tour worthwhile and that having a knowledgeable guide helped you fully appreciate the incredible treasures of the Vatican Museums. It's great to know that you enjoyed highlights such as Raphael's Rooms, the Gallery of Maps, the Sistine Chapel, and the direct access to St. Peter's Basilica. Your kind words about the organization and the value of the experience mean a great deal to us. Our goal is to help our guests discover the Vatican in an engaging and enjoyable way, and we're thrilled that we could be part of one of the highlights of your time in Rome. Thank you for your recommendation, and we hope to welcome you back for another unforgettable experience with EcoArt in the future! Warmest regards, EcoArt Team
We paid to see more than the museum and the tour guide that’s all it showed us. We paid for skip the line tickets and we had to wait in line for almost 2 hours. We understand it was busy, but why charge for a service if we had to wait with everyone else who didn’t pay extra to enter the museum. The tour guide never mentioned the Sistine Chapel or anything else to see. Again, we paid for a service we didn’t get. Now, our daughter and her fiancé have a scheduled trip to Rome this coming August and asked us about our experience with the tours, needles to say, we had to tell them about this disappointing tour. We do not recommend.
Dear Veronica, Thank you for taking the time to share your feedback. We are sorry to hear that your experience did not meet your expectations. However, we would like to clarify a few points: First and foremost, you were not waiting in the general admission line. As a guided tour participant, you used the dedicated entrance reserved for guided groups. The short wait before entering was solely to pass through the mandatory security screening, which every visitor must complete. This allowed you to avoid the general admission queue, where visitors often wait for several hours during busy periods. Secondly, the Sistine Chapel is part of the Vatican Museums. Therefore, it is not physically possible to complete the guided tour of the Vatican Museums without visiting the Sistine Chapel. In addition, because silence is required inside the Chapel as it is a sacred place, our guides always provide a detailed explanation before entering. This explanation typically lasts around 30 minutes, allowing guests to fully appreciate the artwork once inside. For this reason, we believe there may have been some misunderstanding. It is possible that you are referring to St. Peter's Basilica, which is a separate venue from the Vatican Museums. According to our records, you booked a 2:30 PM tour, which does not include the direct passage to the Basilica with us. Direct access through the Museums is available only for selected tours operating between 8:00 AM and 1:00 PM, excluding Wednesdays, and is always subject to availability. Should you still wish to visit St. Peter's Basilica, admission is free via St. Peter's Square, by joining the general entrance line and passing through the mandatory security check. We appreciate your feedback and thank you for giving us the opportunity to clarify these points for future travelers. Warm regards, EcoArt Team
The tour guide was excellent! The experience itself was not good. The number of tours let in at one time is excessive. The experience was ridiculously over crowded and impossible to enjoy. I would not buy any Vatican tour again for this reason. It was very expensive, very overcrowded, very noisy and very hot. This is NOT the fault of the tour company. They were lovely. It is the result of over selling the experience, all together.
Thank you for your feedback and for your kind words about the guide, dear Marymichelle! We completely understand your comments regarding the crowds inside the Vatican Museums. Unfortunately, visitor numbers, admission policies, and the overall capacity management of the Museums are entirely determined by the Vatican authorities and are beyond our control as a tour operator. As you rightly noted, this aspect does not reflect the quality of the service provided by our company or by your guide, who did their best to ensure an enjoyable and informative experience despite the challenging conditions. The Vatican Museums are among the most visited attractions in the world, and during peak periods they can become extremely crowded, noisy, and warm. While we strive to provide the best possible guided experience, we unfortunately cannot influence the number of visitors admitted or the venue's internal management policies. We sincerely appreciate your understanding and are glad to hear that you found our team and guide lovely. Thank you again for sharing your experience.
