The Uffizi Palace was commissioned by Cosimo I de' Medici and designed by Vasari (16th Century). It has a unusual U shape, which is closed towards the Arno. The two wings of the palace are connected by a corridor with six big arched windows, facing the Arno and the inner courtyard. Nowadays the building hosts the Uffizi Gallery, one of the most visited museums in the world, collecting masterpieces from the 13th to the 18th Century. The very beginning of the Uffizi Gallery was the collection of Francesco I de' Medici; The collection became “public and inalienable good” thanks to Duchess Anna Maria Luisa de' Medici whose will it was that it would be open to the public forever. Today, the Uffizi Gallery is one of the most important museums in the world, with new acquisitions and gifts. Using the elevator at the entrance of the museum is reserved for people who have special needs – including temporary – and the maximum capacity is 6 persons at a time.

Skip the line is not available at Uffizi

Paid for skip the line tickets and there was no option to skip the line. We spoke to multiple different staff working the Uffizi and they all said the same thing. There were people in front and behind us in line who also had purchased a skip the line ticket and were unable to skip. Do not pay extra to skip because you will not be able to. Just pay for tickets to get in.

Overcrowded Galleria

The price for the entrance was €29 on the receipt. Aviator charged €42 with no audio guide included, the only thing guaranteed was the time to enter the galleria. The Galleria was so overcrowded that made it a very unpleasant experience.

Overwhelming

Took a while to get into building as skip the line timed tickets had a very long line of people waiting for entry. Very crowded and difficult to get close to more popular works of art. Difficult to locate certain pieces due to sheer size of gallery.

Buffet’s museum

Our guide was very knowledgeable, professional and able to explain in such a way that we wanted even more information when the tour was over.

Beats waiting in line for hours

The line was huge and skipping definitely helped. It was a bit weird to get our tickets in advance but, they were ultimately emailed the day before. Though you have a slot for skipping the line, get there early as a 130 slot could end up getting you in closer to 2. However, it beats waiting for hours. The museum was great and the Birth of Venus was amazing.

Academia worth the time

Tickets worked great. No luck with company audio guide- wouldn’t buy that again. Couldn’t down load in reasonable period of time- museum version would lay 6 € so better.

Slow ticket delivery

Tickets were not available immediately once booking was confirmed and payment taken. Had to email to chase up ticket delivery via email before holiday departure.
