Itinerary

10 min

Meet your guide In front of the Museum of the Second World War.

170 min

The main exhibition is an epic, comprehensive, clear and sombre retelling occupying 20 rooms lying on either side of the long corridor axis, which itself contains displays of everyday life during the war. From the first room with a semi-circular screen showing the rise of totalitarian regimes across Europe, everything is legible and meticulously researched and presented. The entire story of the war in Poland, across Europe and beyond, is conveyed at the geopolitical, the military and the personal levels, and the objects it contains range from Stalin’s pipe to a Sherman tank via Enigma machine. Onto the exhibition and you begin by learning about the background to the war. In the case of Danzig, it is unquestionably linked to the conclusion of World War I and the Treaty of Versailles, which resulted in the city being left in a political limbo, governed neither by the newly recreated state of Poland nor by Germany who had governed Poland in the 146 years previously following partition.

Second world war museum

Very interesting, however, too far without pauses many details that are repeated several times. Incredible pictures and videos, you see a clear link between the origins of the war and current events like Trump Ukraine Gaza Putin

Museum of WWII

Absolutely brilliant museum experience. We chose to have the audio headset and it proved invaluable. Very easy to use and there was still opportunity to read displays and see artefacts. Lots of video clips and footage / outstanding. There are lifts as the entrance at street level you need to go down to lower levels for access

Living history of the city and its inhabitants during the Second World War. World War II

This is an absolute MUẞ if you... - is interested in history - wants to know how this city and its inhabitants lived and survived the war We were in for three hours and didn't manage everything.... In my humble opinion, this museum comes second only to the Imperial War Museum in London. It looks architecturally very interesting from the outside...and then, when you are inside, just never ends! It is interactive, scenes of daily life at the time are depicted and brought to life by many original artifacts and objects! The history of Gdańsk, Poland and the whole region is explained very, very well. Individual fates alternate with major events. Many photos, films and documentaries are shown in endless loops and you are not afraid to depict and name the horrors of war in every detail! We would go to Gdansk again just to see the last part of this fantastic and impressive museum! Small tip: from 60 years old there is a discount on admission

Amazing museum

It is a museum that surprises you by the imaginativeness of the route they have mounted: it is interactive, very visual and deals with the theme of World War II in a very didactic way but, at the same time, that makes you reflect on how we are humans. Essential: the audio guide (which is very well made and detects the places you go) and 3 hours minimum!!! Tuesdays, free!!

Absolutely worth visiting

Museum to see, perfect reconstruction of the tragedy of the Second War, seen especially by those who suffered between two fires, the Nazi first and then Soviet. Very well done and cared for the set-up, rich in panels and videos. Interesting both for those who want to deepen the story and for those who want to know it more closely. Fair admission price. Recommended audio guide, also in Italian
