Itinerary
We begin our tour, with a short tour of Seward and the surrounding area. Learn about the history of the 1964 Earthquake and view the incredible Scenic landscape of this remote port town.
Guaranteed Wildlife viewing, including a great cause to support. The AWCC is one of our guest's favorite places. We are up close and personal with bears, moose, elk, muskox, wolves and more.
Enjoy incredible scenic views and see the hanging glaciers in the Portage Valley. We will end at Portage Lake before heading to Byron Glacier
A beautiful and scenic short guided walk along Byron Glacier Trail that follows the river, up to edge of Byron Glacier itself. This trail is accessible for most guests. Please ask about alternative if needed.
After a full day of activities, we stop in Girdwood for an optional lunch at one of our favorite local restaurants- great food, prices and local flavor ( Have we mentioned the incredible chowder?)
Considered one of the most beautiful drives in the United States. Driving from Seward to Anchorage along the Turnagain Arm is breathtaking, we often stop for pictures, wildlife sightings and if we're lucky in timing, the bore tide.
Beluga Point is one of the best opportunities to see Dahl Sheep on the mountains and if we're lucky, the Bore Tire and Beluga Whales during the later summer.
As we're headed into Anchorage and dropping our guests off at their preferred locations, we love to share a bit of the cities highlights and attractions and share some recommendations of other activities and great restaurants.

This was a great was to see glaciers, wildlife, and the area while also being transported from our cruise port in Seward to our next trip stop in Anchorage.
A relaxed drive to Anchorage. The driver/guide, Elizabeth, was friendly & knowledgeable. My only complaint is about the Alaska Conservation Center. The signage is very poor. They need posted maps so guests know which trail to take to see the animals they wish to see. That said, it was great to see the black & brown bears, the moose, reindeer & musk ox.
Thank you for the kind words about Elizabeth. She's a wonderful guide, and we're glad the drive to Anchorage was a relaxing one. It's great to hear you got to see the black and brown bears, moose, reindeer, and musk ox at the Alaska Conservation Center. We're happy to pass your feedback on to the Alaska Conservation Center so future guests have an easier time navigating the trails to find the animals they're most excited to see. Thanks again for traveling with us, and we hope to see you on another Alaska trip soon! Warm regards, James and Jen
This was a great scenic way to get from our cruise port in Seward to the airport in Anchorage! With the enclosed pull-behind trailer, there was plenty of room for everyone's luggage & the van was clean & comfortable. Our driver, Elizabeth, was very friendly & knowledgeable. We enjoyed our stops at Portage Lake, a restaurant in Whittier (& the ride through the one-way tunnel into town) & the Alaska Wildlife Conservation Center. It was much more fun that a straight-through drive would have been & I recommend it if you have time for the scenic route!
Thank you for such a detailed and generous review! We're so glad the Seward-to-Anchorage route gave you a chance to see more of the Kenai Peninsula rather than just a straight-through drive. The Portage Lake stop, the Whittier tunnel crossing, and the wildlife conservation center are some of our favorite additions to that route, and it's great to hear Elizabeth made the trip even better with her knowledge and friendliness. We'll also be sure to note the positive feedback on the trailer setup and van comfort — glad the luggage logistics were one less thing to worry about after your cruise. Thanks again for recommending the scenic route, and we hope to welcome you back to Alaska! Warm regards, James and Jen
Six of us were picked up right on time at our cruise ship dock. Elizabeth was knowledgeable, funny and we all had a great time with her. Saw some wildlife, beautiful scenery and had lunch at a wonderful restaurant. She dropped us at our hotel in Anchorage. All that and just a little more expensive than taking the train.
Thank you for sharing this! We're so glad your group of six had a smooth, on-time pickup right at the dock, and that Elizabeth's mix of knowledge and humor made the ride memorable. It's great to hear the wildlife sightings, scenery, and lunch stop all came together for a great day on the way into Anchorage. We also appreciate you weighing the value against the train — we think the door-to-door service, flexibility, and personal guide experience are worth the difference, and we're glad it felt that way for your group too. Thanks again for traveling with us, and we hope to see you on another Alaska adventure! Warm regards, James and Jen
Cruise Ship Tour and Transfer: Seward to Anchorage We booked a transfer with Salmonberry from Seward to Anchorage after our cruise. We had 12 hours from the time we disembarked until our flight out of Anchorage, so we wanted to fill that time with more than just a straight drive from Seward to Anchorage. Thoroughly enjoyed our tour!Katie was our tour guide; she said she was new to the company, but did an amazing job. Very personable, very knowledgeable since she grew up in Anchorage, and you could tell that she absolutely enjoyed sharing her home land with those of us on tour. The tour bus was comfortable, and a perfect small group to enjoy the trip. Included in the tour were stops at the Alaska Wildlife Conservation Center and Mt. Alyeska Aerial Tramway. Multiple stops for photo opportunities. Lunch was at a brewery in Girdwood that had several food trucks outside. Absolutely delicious! Would highly recommend Salmonberry for any tour in the future!
This is an excellent, stress free way to travel from the cruise port to Anchorage. Our guide was friendly and shared background information on what we were seeing on the way. The restaurant we stopped at was great and had delicious homemade food. We recommend this to anyone seeking a more intimate option over cruise ship transfers.
We had a great time using this transfer from Seward to Anchorage. The views were beautiful and our guide was friendly and knowledgeable.
Great Tour. Our tour guide, Riley, was very nice and stopped often for pictures. The views were wonderful and we had a nice lunch at a local restaurant.
Great experience- would recommend another option/location for lunch stop as I would have preferred less time for lunch and more time at the wildlife park!
Riley was our guide from Seward to Anchorage after leaving our 8 day cruise. She was absolutely amazing! She gave helpful information about Alaska. She had a wide span of knowledge about the entire area. If ever traveling around the area, she would be who I want to guide me.
Twila. Thanks so much for choosing our Tour. So glad you enjoyed the day! We'll definitely pass along the kind words to Riley. Also appreciate your taking the time to share your experience! We hope to see you in Alaska again.
