It is a pleasant break to take a dragon boat back to the city from the Tuen Mu pagoda on the Song Huon or Perfume River. The view of the banks sliding by shows a lot of natural beauty. At the same time an image of the daily life of the population; women pushing small boats with one oar, fishermen hauling their nets, etc. The larger boats have a shopping area for drinks and souvenirs.
Funny experience. Walked to boat station after dinner at Nook cafe and found it easy to access. $150000vnd per person. We were the only westerners on boat and everything was in Vietnamese. I assume it was funny in parts based on laughter.(or was it at us) Young performers were on their phones mid song and Vietnamese children being thrust against their will to present roses to performers which was as entertaining as actual show. At the end you could float a lantern on the river (mine was immediately sucked under the boat). An interesting experience and boat ride on river pleasant with all the lights but not one I'd rush to do again
