Established in 2011, San Juan Artisan Distillers, located in the coastal town of Vega Alta, is the first and only Sugarcane Estate Distillery in Puerto Rico. Unique in its kind, we grow, harvest, ferment, and distill Sugarcane juice from Puerto Rican Heirloom varietals in the French Cognac Potstills. RON PEPÓN, an award-winning “Ron Agrícola” made 100 percent from the Estate Sugarcane juice. TRESCLAVOS Ron Caña, also an award-winning rum inspired by Puerto Rican tradition, a Ron Caña of exceptional quality infused with Locally Farmed Tropical Fruits. San Juan Artisan Distillers is a farm to bottle distillery. In the northeast of Puerto Rico.

If you do nothing else, visit the distillery and take the tour. The excellent rum is only surpassed by the amazing people that work there and the tenacity of the founder. The commitment to making rum the traditional way, using top quality ingredients is reflected in the unbelievable rums they produce. The staff are incredibly sweet and hardworking. I had an unexpected medical event and fainted during the tour and they handled it with poise and kindness. We were able to go back a few days later and complete the tasting and the rum varieties blew our minds. Beats Bacardi and the other wannabees! My thanks to Adrianna, the amazingly kind lady doing the bottling and Jose. We really appreciate all you did (and the unbelievable rum)!
If you do nothing else while in the area, book this tour! The rum is fantastic and the people even more so. The history of the distillery is incredibly interesting and speaks volume to PR pride and the tasty result of using traditional methods without shortcuts. I unexpectedly got hit with heat exhaustion during the tour and the staff could not have been sweeter. They were incredibly kind and professional, and we were grateful to go back a few days later to complete the tasting. Our deepest thanks for how you handled an awkard situation and the incredible kindness of your staff. Adrianna and your bottler were amazing. Definitely don't miss this one. The rum is fantastic, the staff even better and it is a true story of incredible resolve to build a business.

I can’t express how fun this tour is. It was intimate despite the group size. As a small operation, you get to see everything, see or meet nearly everyone that works there. It’s amazing! You truly get the magic of rum that the bigger brands can’t show you, you FEEL why Puerto Rico is the #1 rum capital of the world. More than anything, to visit a location that is the ONLY location to do 100% sugarcane is wild, but it shows with every pour. Can’t recommend this tour enough.
