Experience of a lifetime!!

My family just got back from the 5 day 4 night Salkantay trek yesterday and I CANNOT say enough good things about the trek and our guide, Ismael C. We enjoy hiking but hadn’t done many multi-day treks. While the hike was difficult at times, it was absolutely worth it for both the incredible views and the amazing service by our porters, horsemen, chefs, and guide. Ismael went above and beyond to give us a really wonderful experience and help out when we had minor injuries or felt the effects of the altitude. He answered any question we could think of about the plants, animals, history, and daily life in Peru, and included some really fun and interesting lessons and activities about native crafts and Quechua culture. We finished with the Salkantay trek less than 24 hours ago and we’re already planning our next trek with Alpaca Expeditions. Thanks for everything!!

Salkantay Trek

It was an amazing experience that I will cherish forever. The scenery was unreal and breathtaking. My guides Hono and Brando were so caring and helpful making the experience so positive. The food was so good with so many options and the sleeping arrangements were cozy but some nights could get cold so bring layers. Would definitely do again in a heartbeat.

Great experience would highly recommend

I had a great experience trekking with Alpaca Expeditions. Our guide Fernando was good about assessing our group and deciding when we needed rest periods. He was also great about making adjustments to our trek, shortening the miles we hiked one day allowed us time to go to the hot springs. The food was plentiful and fantastic. Our chef and chefs helper were very kind. I am a 60 year old female solo traveler and was a little nervous about the trek. Fernando totally put me at ease with his words of encouragement all throughout the trek. I cannot recommend the Alpaca Expedition team enough. Thanks for a great trip. Cindy T

Amazing guides, even in a dire situation

We had such a great Trek. From the moment we met our guides Edward and Wilbur we knew it was going to be awesome. But even before that, the Jessenia helped us with any questions we had at any time in the planning and preparing process. She gave me her WhatsApp number and I texted her anytime about anything. She was always very prompt in responding. The food was amazing! The views were amazing! The places we slept were awesome with beautiful views. I would love to do this Trek again with Alpaca expeditions. One of our super healthy 18-year-old young men came on the Trek with a little bit of a cough which worsened after the first night due to the altitude. In my opinion as an anesthesiologist he was in extreme danger of losing his life with an spo2 of 43. Our guides were amazing and had oxygen available and organized transport to lower elevation and to a clinic where he received treatment which brought his oxygen up to the '90s and saved his life. He missed the trek but was able to meet us at Machu Picchu. Kudos to Edward and Wilbur for the great care and fearless leadership as well as Alpaca expeditions for being able to make the arrangements happen when we were in dire need.

What an amazing experience!

Our experience on the trek was great! The accommodation was lovely all super clean. Another highlight of the trip was the food. I am vegetarian and the cooks did an amazing job at accommodating my dietary requirements. Our guide Ismael was great, along the way super informative and created a great atmosphere.

Beautiful trek, delicious foods, and kind guides

Wonderful experience. Our guide Fernando was very knowledgeable about the area and answered all of our questions thoroughly. He also was able to modify our itinerary based on the physical abilities of my family. Marcelino was an amazing chef and baked a cake for my parents' anniversary. Crisostomo was kind and a wonderful addition to our trip in helping serve as Marcelino's assistant.
