Itinerary
You’ll see it from the water and pass beneath one of the only five transporter bridges in the world. Built by a disciple of Eiffel, its structure recalls the famous Paris tower. It was created to connect both sides of the estuary when the port was still located in the city and large ships needed to pass underneath
These cliffs have a very special beauty, as they reveal a geological formation known as Flysch, where layers of different sediments are exposed, showing the folds created by tectonic plates.
One of the closest beaches to Bilbao, sheltered from the open sea and the northeasterly winds, it’s a beautiful spot to anchor, relax, and take a swim if you wish
Every experience will be unique. Depending on the sea conditions, we’ll choose one option or another. The focus is simply on enjoying the wind, the sea, and the special atmosphere that naturally unfolds on this small, fun, and truly unique sailboat. The trip also gives you the chance to explore Getxo, and just near the marina you’ll admire the impressive, grand mansions along the waterfront.

The experience can begin right in Bilbao city, becoming a relaxed and enjoyable tour along the waters of the estuary, finishing out at sea in the Abra Bay. If conditions allow, we can try some sailing. However, this option is more about cruising the river under motor than sailing. You will disembark in Getxo, a lovely place to explore on the Bilbao coast, with direct public transport connections back to the city (metro or bus).

We had a wonderful time sailing down the river with Feli! We threw a lot of unexpected curveballs at her - the weather was terrible (very windy and rainy), and I was 7 months pregnant, which she wasn’t expecting. But she took everything in stride, made sure I was comfortable, and then on the fly was able to make up several different itineraries to make sure we got the sail we wanted. We ended up floating down the river to Bilbao, where she dropped us off close to our hotel. In the meantime she served a wide variety of drinks (both alcoholic and not), and had snacks on a little table all ready to go for us. She was great to chat with, knowledgeable about the city and its history, and just a ton of fun. We had a great time - one of the highlights of our vacation.
I absolutely loved it — really relaxing and exciting at the same time. My wife wasn’t very convinced at first; she had never sailed before and didn’t know what to expect. But in the end, she was smiling just as much as I was. The views, the sound of the wind in the sails, the waves… it was truly something special. The skipper was incredibly passionate and knowledgeable, explaining everything along the way. She even let us steer the boat ourselves, which made the whole experience even more memorable.
