A very well-known viewpoint on the island for its panoramic views over some of the Sete Cidades lakes. It offers the opportunity to enjoy a walk through nature and relax before reaching the viewpoint. Along the way, you will also find Lagoa do Canário, surrounded by characteristic lush vegetation.
View over the Lagoa das Sete Cidades, where you can distinguish the Green Lake from the Blue Lake and the bridge that separates them. From this viewpoint, you can also see the abandoned Monte Palace Hotel, which stands out for its size and distinctive presence in the landscape.
Take this time to relax by the shores of Lagoa das Sete Cidades and explore the surrounding area.
Discover the process of growing pineapples, a fruit typical of the island of São Miguel. You can also taste products made from these pineapples.

The fogo lake was one of my main reasons for visiting the island. I didn’t want to rent a vehicle to go up the mountain as I think these places are used much more with the presence of a guide and it was. I was amazed at the walk and the information received. I did not know of the existence of a subspecies of simple regulus, "estrelinha de poupa" which we could observe on the way to the lagoa. Thank you!!

We booked this tour not really knowing what to expect, and it ended up being one of the highlights of our time in São Miguel. The island is beautiful everywhere, but seeing Sete Cidades and Lagoa do Fogo in the same day was something really special. What made the difference for us was the guide. She was fantastic – warm, easygoing, and you could tell she genuinely loves the island. It didn’t feel like a scripted tour at all, more like spending the day with someone local who wanted to show us her favorite places. We learned so much about the Azores, the culture, and little details we would never have noticed on our own. The views were unreal, especially at Sete Cidades. Photos don’t do it justice. Lagoa do Fogo was completely different but just as impressive, peaceful and wild. The pace of the day was perfect – enough time at each stop without feeling rushed. Pick-up was smooth, the van was comfortable, and the group size was just right. Honestly, if you only have a short time on the island, this tour is the best way to see the must-see spots with someone who really knows what they’re talking about. Would 100% do it again and recommend it to friends.
