Description

Your local host Raghav has been fortunate to be born in an erstwhile royal family of Udaipur, which has an unbroken lineage of over 1400 years. He lives with his beautiful children and wife in their ancestral home with magnificent views of the valley. The cooking class will be conducted by the resident chef, who has worked with them for the last 20 years and knows all the secret family recipes! He will reveal few closely guarded secrets behind the Mewar cuisine of Indian royalty. The royal cuisine of Mewar is usually simple, rustic yet flavorsome and depends quintessentially on dry fruits, spices and fresh fruits, vegetables, and meats of the season. In your 1 hour hands-on cooking class, you will join the family chef to make Hare bater (farmed quails in a green curry) and dal chitrakoot (lentils from Chittor) and will learn to combine local produce with old traditional recipes before you sit down to enjoy the meal with your host and his family.

Wonderful Evening

We thoroughly enjoyed our experience in the lovely home with Mrs Shelja Singh and her chef (her husband was away at work). It was informative to learn how some of the dishes were prepared and cooked and the resulting meal was delicious. Shelja shared wonderful stories of her and her husband's life and travels in India and beyond..

Gracious hosts, delicious meal. Not to be missed!

My husband and I were privileged to enjoy a lovely evening at the home of Raghav Raj Singh and his beautiful wife. Dinner was fabulous, and they shared recipes. As the Taj is the highlight of a visit to Agra, dinner with the Singh’s was the highlight of our time in Udaipur. Do make time for this , you will be glad you did.

Ecellent dinner with Raghav and his family

We were on vacation in Udaipur in January 2020 and we we had an opportunity to take this fantastic Merwar cuisine of Indian Royalty cooking class in Ragahv;s 18th century castle on the outskirts of Udaipur. Raghav and his family are great hosts and the conversation flowed effortlessly. Our experience was more like watching a demonstration than preparing everything from scratch. We observed how to cook Hariyali Murg (chicken in green curry). Raghav's chef also prepared paneer masala, bindi (okra), rice , and carrot halwa (pudding) for dessert. The meal and overall experience was memorable. I have never before met anyone from a royal family. Raghav is also an accomplished polo player and has traveled all over the world for polo matches. The evening just flew by. Highly recommended
