If fit, do a trail, no need for bikes or buses!

Staying in Perth near Elizabeth Quay. Trip from there to Rottnest is 1.5 hours but if you take train to Freemantle, and go from there, it's about the same time. BUT you then miss all the buildings along the river. Punctual, not that cheap but seats comfortable and you can buy drinks and snacks. We did our own thing, walking along a trail.

Disappointing "Selective" Service – Professionalism Missing at Rottnest Express

I am deeply disappointed by the unprofessional and biased service from a male crew member during my trip with Rottnest Express. 我对乘坐 Rottnest Express 期间一名男性船员表现出的非专业且有偏见的服务深感失望。 1. During Boarding (上船时): He was enthusiastically offering maps to passengers ahead of me. However, when it was my turn, he became stone-faced and silent. Even when I proactively asked for a map and said "thank you," he completely ignored me. 他热情地为我前面的乘客提供地图,但轮到我时却冷脸沉默。即便我主动索要地图并致谢,他仍对我视而不见,不发一言。 2. During Disembarking (下船时): While he responded to other passengers' thanks, he stayed silent and dismissive when my companion and I thanked him, despite clearly hearing us. 下船时,他会回应其他人的致谢,但当我和同伴向他道谢时,他明明听到了却刻意保持沉默,态度傲慢。 Conclusion (总结): As an Asian traveler, the stark contrast in his demeanor felt deliberate and targeted. We remained polite throughout, but were met with "selective silence." This kind of biased attitude is unacceptable. 作为亚裔游客,他前后态度的剧烈反差让我感到是刻意针对。我们始终保持礼貌,却遭遇了这种“选择性沉默”。这种偏见待遇令人无法接受。

Put it on your must visit list

Definately should be on the list of places to go if in Perth. Met our expectations we had heard about it. We did the hop on hop of bus when we got of the boat from Elizabeth quay. You can walk, push bike, bus around the island or just stay at the Port around the shops etc. The quokka are as cute as you see on TV. You can see them at the port (around the port area)if you don't want to go bush. We were lucky one decided it wanted a nurse( I wasn't going to argue with it and just sat and let it do its thing). There is plenty if food places and shops, and a playground and tables around. It took about an hour to get thereThe boat times are restricted to about every hour, pending which one you use. We got of at fteemantle on the way back and then got the train back to Perth after having a small walk around freemantle .

Very beautiful island BUT CAREFUL IN CHOOSING HOW TO SHOOT IT

Very pretty and suggestive island of South Western Australia. In balance between a still rather unspoilt and somewhat wild nature and structured holiday tourism. Inhabited by delightful creatures called quokka, peaceful and free to roam everywhere. During the visit you will discover wonderful landscape views and there is the possibility to reach coves and beaches with crystal clear water. However, you have to pay close attention to choosing how to get around the island. There are several alternatives: buses, bicycles, electric bicycles, scooters and partially a train. However, an aspect, in my opinion, very important and decisive for the choice of how to move on the island is not adequately highlighted at the start: the continuous ups and downs with significant differences in road levels that do not make it suitable for everyone simple bicycles. This should be made very clear, which is not the case. Also you have to be careful about the directions. They often lead to stretches of sandy roads that force you to get off your bikes and make long distances on foot. Once you have identified the most appropriate means the tour can be really enjoyable.

Hop on Hop off - Outstanding service by the bus driver

⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ (6/5 Stars!) We had an absolutely fantastic experience on the hop-on hop-off bus, thanks to our driver Paul! From the moment we stepped on board, he was incredibly welcoming and set the tone for a great day. Paul’s knowledge was outstanding — he shared so much interesting information along the way, making the journey just as enjoyable as the destinations themselves. What really stood out was how much he genuinely loves his job; his enthusiasm was contagious and made the whole experience feel special. Nothing was too much trouble, and he made everyone feel comfortable and included. It’s rare to come across someone who delivers service at this level. If you’re lucky enough to have Paul as your driver, you’re in for a treat — he deserves 6 stars out of 5!

Rottnest offers the best adventure.

Rottnest Island trip was one of the greatest & most memorable family adventure we had considering that it was also a year end travel made it even more precious. The island has tons of activities to offer catering from lil' kids to oldies. Hiking & walking are two best things to do. My family & I went there on a public holiday & the entire place was swarmed, packed & loaded with hundreds of tourists but it was still fun because the island obviously is really big. Highly recommended place to visit & we would surely love be go back💗👌.

The ferry was great,...

The ferry was great, really efficient and all the signage was very straight forward. I tend to get seasick but was fine on this ferry!

Just like Centre Parcs, overrated

Sadly the lady who made the booking at Elizabeth Quay couldn’t even crack a smile, albeit she was quite helpful. Boat trip down the Swan River was fine but got to say Rottnest Island was the worse place I’ve visited in Australia. Basically an island full of rent a bikes, of which they have 2,000 and a load of chavvy holiday chalets. The island is very barren with hardly any wildlife, as for quokkas they all seem to live round the terminal. A few nice bars there, Samphire Club was the best we found. Would we return, no chance.
