The building was originally called Porta Flaminia, but it is now officially known as Porta del Popolo. Pope Pius IV commissioned the famous artist Michelangelo to design it in 1562. However, Michelangelo delegated the task to the architect Nanni di Baccio Bigio who completed the construction in three years, and it was finished in 1565.
Dating back to 1723, the Spanish Steps are a series of steps that ascend a steep slope connecting the Piazza di Spagna at the base of the hill to the Piazza Trinità dei Monti at the summit. Even today, the Spanish Steps remain a popular attraction for artists, painters, and poets, just as they were in the past.
Trevi Fountain is an essential destination for anyone visiting Rome. Considered to be the most beautiful fountain in the world, it is a breathtaking sight to behold. The fountain's origins date back to 19BC when it was built as the endpoint of the Aqua Virgo aqueduct. The fountain we see today, however, was constructed during the Renaissance era under the guidance of Pope Nicolas V. The fountain's grandeur, intricate details, and awe-inspiring beauty make it a must-visit attraction for tourists and locals alike.
The Pantheon is one of the most remarkable ancient buildings in Rome, Italy. Constructed between 25 and 27 BC as a temple for pagan gods, it has stood the test of time and remains nearly intact to this day. The temple was completed by Hadrian in 126 AD, and since the 7th century, it has been used as a church dedicated to St. Mary and Martyrs. The Pantheon is a fascinating architectural feat, boasting a massive dome with a central opening called an oculus that allows natural light to filter in. Its impressive structure has influenced countless buildings over the centuries and is a must-see for anyone interested in ancient Roman history.
Piazza Navona is the quintessential elegant showcase square of Rome, replete with stunning fountains and baroque Palazzi. Its origins date back to the 1st century when it was known as the Stadio di Domiziano. However, by the 15th century, the site had been paved over and turned into a bustling marketplace, serving as the city's main commercial hub for nearly 300 years. Today, Piazza Navona stands as a testament to Rome's rich history and timeless elegance, drawing visitors from around the world to marvel at its architectural beauty and cultural significance.

Super fun and not too informational! Our guide was amazing!
No headsets as described. Although we stopped at all the spots very little dialogue and activity felt very rushed.
This experience was wonderful. Andrea our tour guide was so sweet and was super knowledgable about the history of Rome. She was so patient and answered any questions my husband or I had. She also waited for us to walk to the start site after some confusion with the start time of the tour. She was gracious to call us and let us know that the tour would be at the start time and informed us of her location to meet her since others had cancelled and it would be just us with her . I would recommend taking this tour with Andrea.
Only 2 of us showed up for this but our tour-guide did not cancel and that was wonderful! It was like a private tour. We also had our guide take us to the top of a restaurant his friend owned for another very cool view of the Trevi Fountain! I really liked this tour, our guide, and how customized it felt. Since there was only 2 of us, he leaned into what we knew about Rome, what we didn't know and really wanted to make our trip special by making recommendations in various areas. He also always offered to take photos of us at several stops. I wish I had written down our tour guide's name, but he was from Egypt but had lived in Rome many years and he was just so kind and engaging. There's a lot of walking on this tour, obviously, but it's mostly very flat. The cost to get into & close to the fountain is not included but it was only 2 euros. I recommend planning to get dinner or a treat right before or after the tour - especially at the end, there are tons of restaurants in the area where the tour ends.
