Tradition has it that if visitors throw a coin into the fountain, they will be assured a return to Rome, two coins will lead to a new romance and three will ensure a marriage. The name Spanish Steps earned its name after the Spanish Embassy that was permanently located there in 1647, and it was later transformed into the Spanish Embassy to the Holy See. Below the staircase is an early 1600’s Baroque fountain, “Fontanna della Barcaccio”, or “The Fountain of the Old Boat”, a type of shallow boat particularly used for carrying wine to the port of Ripetta. At the top of the elegant 18th century winding stairway is the French church of Trinità dei Monti.

Fantastic Service! Highly recommend!

Our driver Radu was so nice and personable. We used Rome Cabs twice on our vacation and had Radu both times! We used their service to transfer us from the airport to our hotel and then again to transfer us from the hotel to the cruise port. Both trips went smoothly. Radu showed up on time and communicated clearly where he would be. Highly recommend!

Hitting the High Spots in Rome

Our group of 8 cruisers used RomeCabs on disembarkation day at Civitavecchia; we were picked up on time, given a choice of vehicle size, went on an absolutely OUTSTANDING panoramic tour of Rome and then were dropped at our hotel near FCO. Our driver suggested first dropping our luggage (we had a LOT of it) at our hotel as it was on the route; he had an audio guide that gave us some details before each stop, he took us to the best places for photos and within close walking distance of sights and suggested a delicious place for lunch. I would definitely use them again. It was a wonderful last day to our cruise adventure!

Fantastic tour of Rome and the country side with great service.

The tour was the "Rome Town & Country Tour" Our driver/tour guide was Michael, who was fabulous and took care of us to ensure we accessed washrooms when needed and provided great information about the areas we toured and where to take great pictures. It was very busy in Rome but he easily guided us through all the tourist spots. The best part was the local restaurant in Ceri that served fantastic authentic food.

So Worth It For Us

Our driver acted as an unofficial tour guide. He was great. He talked about the areas we were driving through and he had some audio clips cued up for us to listen to for a few spots. He was very responsive as our plans changed slightly throughout the day. He took us to a great spot for lunch. So, so glad we ended up with our driver.

Great way to see Rome in a day!

We did the "Rome in a Day" tour the day before our cruise. Michele was our driver and he was fantastic! He arrived at our hotel ahead of schedule, and revised our stop and tour on the fly based on what we wanted to see and do. He provided great insight throughout the day, and great food recommendations as well. I'd gladly recommend this tour (and have!) to anyone looking to get a quick taste of what the city has to offer.

The best way to see Roma in the summer!

We were on a cruise as a high school graduation gift for our granddaughter, bringing along her two parents. None of them had been to Europe before, and we were concerned that the massive crowds of tourists and summer heat would be a big turnoff for them. That's why we took a chance on Stefano's RomeCabs, hoping that someone familiar with the city and with an air-conditioned car and some common sense flexibility with the itinerary would compensate for the challenges. We could not have been happier. Our driver picked us up at the dock at Civitavecchia right on time. He was fluent in English, well informed, and knew exactly what he was doing. (We were on the "Tour Rome as a Roman Local." We immediately went to the highest pressure tourist stops (St. Paul's Cathedral, Trevi Fountain, Spanish Steps.) then the pace slowed while we visited the other must see sites. It was comfortable in the car. We got to sit back and see Rome from a street side view. We never had far to walk to get to the important area. Our driver had recommendations for lunch and gelato. He was always waiting for us when we were done. and he was a fount of knowledge about history and culture. I can't recommend this highly enough. It was an enjoyable and unforgettable day.

Michele: great driver, tour guide and host ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Our driver Michele picked us up promptly from our ship. We had planned a tour of the Colosseum. On the way Michele took us to several out of the way places that were incredible. He got us to our tour location right on time. After the tour, he took us to a local restaurant away from the tourist area for an outstanding lunch. Then back to the ship. In all a great experience and trip. Michele is an excellent driver, host and fabulous representative of his company and city! We give him our highest rating and recommendation. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Rome in a Day

We had a great excursion to Rome from Civitavecchia while on a cruise. The driver was waiting for us as we got off the ship & was great the whole day. Very friendly & knew a lot about everywhere he took us. We ended with a guided tour of the vatican museum & St Peter's before returning to the ship. It was a very stress-free & fun day

Amazing trip!

Leonardo was our driver and he was AMAZING! Very knowledgeable about the city and the history, he showed us pictures of what the city used to look like. We asked him to take us to pizza place for lunch and he took us to the best pizza spot outside the tourist area, where the locals eat. It was by far the best pizza we ever had and cheap as well! He was also a very good driver, we didn't have to walk far for anything. I have very high standard and I will book this service again in a heart beat!
