Rome Highlights Private Shore Excursion from Civitavecchia Port
Description
Enjoy an overview of the best sights that Rome can offer in one day. Your English speaking driver will pick you up at the port and drive you to the heart of Rome, Venice Square, where the Victor Emanuel monument, called “the Wedding Cake,” is located. Next, you will visit are the remnants of the ancient great history of the city: the Roman Forum, the Colosseum, the Circus Maximus, the Capitol Hill, the Palatine Hill and the Baths of Caracalla. We return to the center of Rome to visit the most famous of all ancient city temples; the Pantheon. Walk through Piazza Navona, see the Spanish Steps and the Trevi Fountain. We will stop for a traditional Italian Lunch and shopping. The city tour continues in the afternoon with a visit to the Vatican City, the smallest state in the world, to explore the richest storehouse of art in the world: the Vatican Museums, the Sistine Chapel, and St. Peter’s Basilica. In the afternoon you will be driven back to the pier.

Enjoy an overview of the Circus Maximus, the first largest stadium to be built in ancient Rome which held horse and chariot races to entertain the Roman public. Overlooking it, you find the Palatine Hill, where according to Roman legends, Romulus and Remus were found by the she-wolf who raised them.
Drive by the famous wedding cake, the monument dedicated to the first king of unified Italy: Victor Emanuel II, a splendid neoclassical white marble interpretation of the nearby Roman Forum.
Toss a coin into the Trevi fountain for good luck and a safe return to Rome, or toss two to find love in Rome, as the legend goes, and take in the beauty of the theme of "taming of the waters" the fountain presents.
Climb the Spanish Steps as the famous actors did in the late 1900s, and walk through Via Condotti where the most important designer bouitiques are located.
Visit the most famous of all ancient Roman temples, the Pantheon, which was dedicated to many Roman deities until it became the first Roman Catholic church of all times. Step inside and admire the beautiful marble floors, walls, and ceiling where the Oculus is centered.
Walk through one of the most beautiful Baroque squares of the world: Navona Square, where you can enjoy the three marvelous fountains by Bernini.
Visit the Vatican, the smallest state in the world, and explore the richest storehouse of art in the world: the Vatican Museums, the Sistine Chapel, and St. Peter’s Basilica.

After contacting Italy Private Excursions and connecting with Sarah, the whole adventure was amazing. Sarah was extremely patient as she outlined all of our choices, with pricing included. There were many emails exchanged and Sarah was quick to respond and clarify our questions/concerns Alex picked us up right outside our ship and drove us into Rome. Along the way he pointed out all kinds of things and was very engaging and informative. Once in Rome he managed to get use really close to the Trevi fountain in spite of it being marathon day (annual Rome Marathon day which takes place right in the heart of the city around the spots we wanted to see) As we chose the transportation only option Alex determined the best pick up location and time and after we had completed our self guided wander he was right where he told us he would be at the exact time. I found that amazing as once again it was Marathon day and the streets were packed with people. Great golf cart tour of Rome at night. Informative. Fun.
We didn't see everything that was on the list of sites to see but we did opt for a lunch break so that could be why. We did feel like we saw what we wanted to see and enjoyed all of it. The driver and the tour guide were very friendly and fluent in English. They made sure that we saw what we wanted to see and we were back to the ship in plenty of time.

From the drivers pick-up to our return to the ship everything far exceeded our expectations. Although this private tour was expensive the driver and the guide got us into and took us places we would never have been able to see. We were able to see things that we would never have been able to on a group tour and there were very personal touches from the quick stop at a small cafe on our way to Rome to the lunch arranged by our guide.

Excellent day with a great guide. Everything from pick up and drop off and in between was perfect. Private is the way to go and Stephan was awesome!
I had booked most of my excursions with the cruise ship and this was the only outside/private tour i had booked only because the ship's excursion for Ultimate Rome one was fully booked. Well, it was the best thing I did! Very easy to book, questions were answered immediately before the excursion, and the driver Alex was excellent (waited right outside our exit of the ship). Stress free, no excessive walking because driver knew how to get in and out of all stops quickly maneuvering around the narrow streets filled with people (quite fun experience).
Highly recommend. Sarah was very thoughtful and made the booking process sooo easy. We had an amazing day at Rome, our driver Nick was such a nice company, good with the kids and share so many interesting things about the city. The next day, we had a tour in Pisa/Florence and our driver Salvatore was also very nice. Cars were both great, everything very well organized and stress-free. Thank you.
We requested a private MBZ van/limo for the day from a limo company but they were booked, so we were referred to Sarah at Italy Private Excursions and Juliano Muroni was assigned to pick my wife & I up at the Civitavecchia Port. Juliano was on time when we disembarked for the day and he took us into Rome. Juliano knew a lot about the local history & made sure we were comfortable & recommended a great place for lunch. I would recommend this company from Sarah who handled the scheduling & making sure we were happy to Juliano as our driver. If you're on vacation either staying in hotel or on a cruise ship, highly recommended to take care of you & your family.
We had a fantastic day with our driver Alex Paolini today! He was waiting for us with a sign when we got off of the cruise ship. He was so nice and it was even his birthday. We saw all of the historic sites and he explained everything clearly. We enjoyed spending the day with him and loved being in Rome.
