Itinerary
From the pier (or your selected starting point) we drive to the Medieval City (World Heritage Site) where you can get your pictures from outside of the most important Gates. A) According to a new traffic regulation no cars enter the Old Town, only pedestrians. We can finish the tour later at a gate of the Old Town, so you can visit it on your own and walk back to the ship. From the Medieval City to the Cruise Port is 5min flat walk. This way you save time and money, as you don’t have to pay the driver (waiting-time) B) No stress, our knowledgeable drivers can show you how to walk via the Old Town back to the ship (just talk to your driver)
We continue out of the Old Town to Old Harbor (Mandraki), where according to the tradition, the Colossus of Rhodes once stood - One of the seven wonders of the ancient world.
Close to the entrance of the Old Port is the "Church of Annunciation of the Virgin Mary" The Church is styled as a 3 aisled gothic basilica with a wooden roof., and houses amazing gothic wall paintings by Fotis Kontoglou and impressive chandeliers. Today it is the town’s cathedral
Elli beach lies between the Mandraki harbor, and the Aquarium, in the northern end of the town. Is the beach of Rhodes Town one of the most cosmopolitan beaches.
We drive to Monte Smith Hill (Acropolis of Rhodes Town) on the way you see the North Point of the Island where the Mediterranean and the Aegean Sea meet. Once we reach the Acropolis (with the car no climb) we stop at a vantage point for a 360 Panoramic View of Rhodes Town and both East and West Coast - Scenic. We continue for photos from a distance of the Temple of Apollo, and the Ancient Stadium.
Just close to Anthony Quinn bay. Super spot for swimming and snorkeling. Sun loungers and beach facilities - Scenic
After finishing with the Highlights of Rhodes Town we drive 32 miles (50km) South East of the Island to Lindos - On the way you visit the Anthony Quinn Bay - Scenic IMPORTANT NOTE: On very busy days, Anthony Quinn Bay may become extremely crowded, making it difficult or even impossible for vehicles to access or exit the area due to the high number of parked cars. To avoid losing valuable tour time, we may replace the visit to Anthony Quinn Bay with a brief photo stop (on the way back) at Kallithea Viewpoint instead (please note: we will not enter Kallithea Springs). This adjustment allows us to maintain the overall quality and schedule of the tour while still offering a beautiful scenic stop.
On the way you can choose an optional short stop at a pottery workshop where the traditional pottery of Rhodes is made. You can see the wonderful pieces of art, and watch the potter working at his wheel. You can even learn the mystery of the Pythagorean cup!
On the way to Lindos we stop at a vantage point for a panoramic picture from a distance of Lindos Beach. Wonderful white sand, flat calm seas and great beach side. The beach is overlooked by the beautiful acropolis. From the same point you can get your panoramic photos of the White Village and Acropolis of Lindos
We drive into the Village at the main square so you can: Option A) To walk the alleys of Lindos and climb up the Acropolis Option B) Just explore the white village, walk the alleys of Lindos (not climb up 292 steps to acropolis) Your driver can show you the acropolis from vantage points and you get your photos from a distance. This way you skip the crowds, save time, and have more time to explore the White Village You have one hour to spend in Lindos (village and Acropolis) You may extend the tour if you wish (or contact us on time of booking, so we can modify the tour to your wishes) the tour is 100% flexible
Walk through Lindos Village and up the many steps and uphill pathways to the summit of the Acropolis to see the magnificent remains of past civilizations and enjoy the 360 panoramic view. You have 35 min for the Acropolis. Total Time in Lindos is one 1:10 hour. In case you need more time, please let us know, so we can modify the tour. (You can skip the climb to Acropolis) LINDOS ACROPOLIS E-TICKET SYSTEM At Lindos Acropolis, entry is restricted to specific time slots covered by the e-ticket system. Our guide Mikal was the best. He was funny, knowledgable and knew exactly where to take us to have a wonderful day.
Thank you for choosing Rhodes Private Tours. We hope to welcome you back to our island soon!! Kind Regards Nicholas A. Rhodes and the Team of RhodesPrivateTours.com
We had a good time with George exploring Rhodes. There were a couple of unfortunate things though. We suggested to him that we should head out to Lindos first and then explore the city afterwards in order to stay ahead of the crowds at the Acropolis, but he decided to go forward as planned. As a result, we ended up getting stuck in traffic a couple of times and by the time we arrived at Lindos, the crowds were already there and it took an hour to get into the site. After visiting the site, George seemed to be rushing to drop us off so he could pick up another party at the airport. He did make an excellent suggestion for lunch at Mama Sofia. Best food we had had up to that point in Greece.
Thank you for taking the time to share your feedback. We would, however, like to clarify a few points, as we believe there may have been some misunderstanding. A) Our tours are always 100% flexible and customizable. At no point during the tour (or before the tour) was there a request to drive directly to Lindos first. Had this been requested, George would have happily adjusted the itinerary accordingly. B) Regarding the crowds in Lindos, your cruise ship was actually the second ship arriving that morning. A German cruise ship had already docked at 7:30 AM, while your ship arrived at 8:30 AM and the tour began at 9:00 AM. This means that Lindos was already busy before your arrival, even if we had driven there directly. C) Additionally, the weather on the day of your visit was cloudy, which led many tourists staying in hotels across the island to visit popular sightseeing locations such as Lindos instead of spending time at the beach. Unfortunately, this created heavier traffic and larger crowds than usual around the island’s highlights. D) We would also like to reassure you that George was never rushing to return you to the ship. We intentionally never schedule another service immediately after our tours, specifically to allow flexibility in case guests wish to extend their experience or make additional stops during the day. We always do our best to provide a relaxed, enjoyable, and personalized experience for every guest. We wish you all the best and hope you enjoyed the rest of your cruise! Kind Regards Nicholas A. Our tour of Rhodes with our tour guide George was fantastic. He picked us up at the pier in his very nice van and away we went. He was very knowledgeable of the history of the country and let us set the pace of how long we wanted to spend at each spot and he spoke excellent English. George was very polite and very easy to talk to and ask questions about his country. We highly recommend this tour.
We are delighted to hear that you had a fantastic time exploring Rhodes with us. Creating a relaxed, and personalized experience for our guests is always our goal. Kind Regards Nicholas A. Rhodes and the Team of RhodesPrivateTours.com
Our guide, Michael, was outstanding! He was waiting for us right off the ship in a beautiful sedan. He gave us a great overview of Rhodes, and its rich history. We had a wonderful ride to Lindos with a quick bathroom stop and some shopping at a local pottery store. I can’t say enough about the town of Lindos. We were lucky that there were hardly any other tourists. We had a wonderful lunch and walked around. I highly recommend taking the time for a visit.
We’re glad the warm welcome and comfortable tour made your day special. We hope to welcome you back to Rhodes someday. Kind Regards Nicholas A. Rhodes and the Team of RhodesPrivateTours.com
Our tour guide did his best and we got to see the historical sites, but we had bad timing as it was winter and on a Sunday. Rhodes is apparently seasonal and not a Sunday thing. Most of the shops and restaurants were closed. (The few that were open were making a killing.) The journey to the acropolis on the far side of the island was worth it. I had the best baklava ever in Rhodes old town.
We’re glad to hear that you enjoyed the historical sites and that the Acropolis was worthwhile. We hope to welcome you back in the future, perhaps during a livelier season! Kind Regards Nicholas A. Rhodes and the Team of RhodesPrivateTours.com
We had an amazing experience on our five-hour private tour of Rhodes thanks to our guide and driver, Michael. The entire process, starting with the booking, was excellent. Dealing with Nicholas was a pleasure—he was extremely responsive to my emails and made the process very easy. A huge plus was the pickup: our car was literally waiting right outside the ship, directly next to the gangway, which made us feel like VIPs and started the day perfectly. Michael truly made the tour exceptional. He was extremely knowledgeable and shared fascinating details about life on Rhodes. His fantastic sense of humor kept our family entertained and laughing throughout the entire five hours. Even though we opted not to climb the 292 steps to the Lindos Acropolis, Michael made sure we still get photos of it. He also showed us a couple of truly gorgeous bays and panoramic views. We also had time to walk around Lindos village. We were dropped off at Old Town Rhodes after the tour which gave us ample time to shop around Old Town. Having taken many private tours globally, we were very impressed. Even though Michael served as a “one man team” (both guide and driver), he is simply one of the best we've encountered. We highly recommend both the tour company and Michael!
We’re delighted to hear that we made your experience seamless, fun, and memorable. We truly appreciate your recommendation and hope to welcome you back on Rhodes again! Kind Regards Nicholas A. Rhodes and the Team of RhodesPrivateTours.com
Gianni was an excellent tour guide. He provided the history of Greece/Rhodes, we went to the Acropolis of Lindos, Acropolis of Rhodes, beautiful beaches including Anthony Quinn Bay. We saw so much in a very short amount of time due to cruise ship time limits.
We’re so glad our tour helped you see so much in such a short visit. We hope to welcome you back again for even more discoveries! Kind Regards Nicholas A. Rhodes and the Team of RhodesPrivateTours.com
We had a wonderful day riding in comfort and seeing beautiful Lindos and Rhodes. Our tour guide was very knowledgeable of the history and attentive to our needs. He was on time and brought us back to the ship so that it was stress free. The owner of the company met us in the morning to say hello and thank us for booking the tour. The owner also called toward the end of our tour to make sure that we were happy with the tour.
Thank you for your kind words, our goal is always to ensure guests feel cared for every step of the way! Kind Regards Nicholas A. Rhodes and the Team of RhodesPrivateTours.com
Thank you Nick for a wonderful few hours touring Rhodes. Our driver George was extremely helpful and nothing was too much trouble. Towards the end of our tour George brought us to a lovely local beach where we enjoyed a swim and a fab lunch in his recommended beach resturant.
Thank you so much for your lovely feedback and your kind words, really appreciated!! Kind Regards Nicholas A. Rhodes and the Team of RhodesPrivateTours.com
