Considered as "a gift of the Gods", the cacao tree was very important to the ancient culture. It was not only used as a ceremonial drink, but its seeds were also used as currency because of its economic value, in many regions of Mesoamerica, including Costa Rica. In this 2-hour “hands on” program, you'll have the opportunity to learn interesting aspects of cocoa and chocolate, from its origin and history, participating in all the production process, from the harvesting of the fruit, drying and grinding of the seed, also the developing of the traditional drink of our ancestors, and of course enjoying a high quality organic chocolate.

Keilor made this tour absolutely magical!

Keilor was one of the best tour guides we've ever had! He was super friendly and welcoming, and his dry sense of humor had us absolutely cracking up the entire time while still being genuinely interesting and informative. His group-handling skills were excellent and he made everything about the tour and chocolate-making demonstration fun for the kids and adults at the same time. My daughter is very shy, yet he somehow found a way to make her embrace being our "team leader" and even do a "cacao bean crushing dance" in front of a group of 15 strangers! She told us afterward that he reassured her that she didn't have to do it if she didn't want to, and that he would dance alongside her to help with her shyness. I can't recommend this place (and Keilor) enough! Stop reading this review and book this tour!

Amazing chocolate experience

Fun and informative chocolate tour. Learned the process from the bean to chocolate. Had the opportunity to walk around the “farm”. At the end we all tasted different combinations of flavors with chocolate. I would highly recommend

Learned so much!

Such a fun experience! We learned so much about the process to make chocolate, sampled chocolate, and had a blast creating flavors and adding spices. We also saw a sloth and toucans! I would highly recommend this tour.

Unforgettable chocolate tour!!

We had a great tour and our guide - Keilor El Guapo - was amazing. He not only was funny and made the tour fun but he was also extremely knowledgeable . It was a very informative tour and we also got to see some wildlife - Poison Dart Frog, Sloth and other frogs. We saw how the coco was harvested and fermented. Then we actually helped grind some beans so we could make our own chocolate. It was a fantastic tour and I would do it again!

Spend your money elsewhere

If you enjoyed Freshman year orientation or get excited for the first day of a new job when they ask you to give three facts about yourself, maybe this tour is for you! For my family, it was a $39 (bad) comedy show and humiliation ritual. I thought this was going to be educational, instead I learned nothing and spent the entire show thinking of ways to pretend to be sick so we could leave early. The guide was misogynistic, irritating and frankly, rude! The chocolate tasted good, but the route we took to get to that was painful.

Cool, interesting and entertaining tour

It was a super cool , exciting entertaining tour with our guide Xexel. She guided us excitingly through the production of chocolate and explained all the steps. Our children loved to taste all the different products and of course the tasting of the fresh liquid chocolate in the end. Worth every rap and really recommended.

Delicious Tour!

This tour was super fun! All steps of the chocolate process were experiences (all to the soundtrack of howler monkeys!). My family particularly enjoyed the “design your own specialty chocolate blends!” The guides were fun and knew their stuff! Would definitely do this tour again!
