Highly recommend Bruce for this tour. Extremely knowledgeable local history of Charleston. Great walking tour.
History comes alive in Charleston as you stroll cobblestone streets with Bruce, a 7th generation Charlestonian who has intimate knowledge of the unique social fabric and chronicles of this special town. Bruce literally has keys to the city as he unlocks gates to fabulous private gardens and escorts you into magnificent buildings that are otherwise not open to the public. I highly recommend that you reach out to Bruce after booking with Viator so that he can customize your private tour to maximize your time in Charleston.
Thank you so much.
Life long resident really knows the history. Peppered in unique personal anecdotes of the many influential families and homes he is well acquainted with. Don't miss! Would definitely go again and again.
Why would you immerse yourself in the Holy City‘s rich and fascinating history with anyone other than a 7th generation Charlestonian? Mr. Burris is a wonderful tour leader, flush with personal stories, unique insights and a repository of knowledge that‘s based on anecdotes and experiences, not just history books. Highly recommend!
Our tour of historic Charleston homes and gardens was incredibly entertaining and informative. Bruce is an amazing storyteller, and as a lifelong city resident with roots that extend to colonial times, our tour incorporated personal, as well as historic, anecdotes. We also accessed private spaces and gardens I have never seen before, with intimate knowledge of the people who lived here. This is a do not miss experience!
Bruce was AMAZING! Full of fun and historical information. We got a full 3 hr tour, which was wonderful. While Bruce kept saying we were running behind, we can promise that you will want to spend the full day with Bruce! The entire tour was full of history, fun, and even entertaining community stories! On a side note, half the fun is seeing him run into his friends! Would definitely book again!
Yall are very gracious
Wonderful walking tour of the French Quarter, and The Battery. We’ve been to Charleston multiple times, but never did a tour. Bruce has a wealth of knowledge as a multigenerational Charlestonian, who grew up in that area, had businesses in the area, is current resident, and now realtor. He knows the families/people that own/owned the various properties that you walk past, and his knowledge spans both the historical and more modern history. We thoroughly enjoyed our tour and will do another one with him on the West side of King Street when we visit again.
Bruce was a great guide! Such wonderful knowledge of Charleston and was so accommodating for our group!
Knowledgeable guide. He took us down the alleys and showed us a lot more than most guides do. Enjoyed it!
Excellent tour. So informative and fun. Thank you so much. Bruce is such a nice human being and knew everything about Charleston history. Thank you for the wonderful memories
