Itinerary
Pena Palace is a breathtaking example of 19th-century Romanticism. With its vibrant colors, whimsical architecture, and stunning hilltop views, it looks like something out of a fairytale. Originally a monastery, it was transformed into a palace by King Ferdinand II, blending Gothic, Moorish, and Manueline styles. Surrounded by lush forests and exotic gardens, Pena Palace is one of Portugal’s most iconic landmarks.
(Select Option) The Moorish Castle in Sintra is a medieval fortress built in the 9th–10th century during the Muslim occupation of the Iberian Peninsula. Perched high on the Sintra hills, it offers breathtaking panoramic views of the town, the Atlantic coast, and the lush forests of the Serra de Sintra. Its ancient stone walls, towers, and winding paths tell the story of centuries of conquests and cultural influences, making it one of Sintra’s most atmospheric
In the heart of Sintra, you can explore the charming village, admire the National Palace, or take a scenic walk to the enchanting Quinta da Regaleira (tickets not included). Alternatively, immerse yourself in the magic of this medieval town — stroll through its narrow streets, soak in the local atmosphere, and savor a coffee paired with the famous "Travesseiro" or "Queijada" two must-try traditional pastries.
(Optional Visit) Quinta da Regaleira is one of Sintra’s most mysterious and enchanting landmarks. This extravagant estate, built in the early 20th century by António Augusto Carvalho Monteiro, blends Gothic, Renaissance, and Manueline influences. Surrounded by lush gardens filled with hidden tunnels, mystical symbols, and secret passageways, it feels like a journey into a fantasy world. One of its most famous features is the Initiation Well, a spiraling underground tower believed to be linked to Masonic rituals. (Self-guided, ticket not included)
Colares wine is one of Portugal’s most unique and rarest wines, produced in sandy soils near Sintra. The Ramisco grape, grown on ungrafted vines, gives the wine a distinct character—elegant, tannic, and built to age. As one of the oldest Demarcated Wine Regions in Portugal. It´s a true hidden gem for wine lovers.
Cabo da Roca is the westernmost point of mainland Europe, where steep cliffs meet the endless Atlantic Ocean. A quick stop here offers stunning views and a perfect photo opportunity. Marked by a lighthouse and a monument with Luís de Camões' famous words—"Where the land ends and the sea begins"—it’s a breathtaking spot to enjoy the scenery before continuing our journey towards Cascais.
Cascais is a charming coastal town known for its beautiful beaches, elegant streets, and rich history. Once a humble fishing village, it became a favorite summer retreat for the Portuguese royal family in the 19th century. Today, Cascais blends traditional charm with a lively atmosphere, offering stunning ocean views, cultural landmarks, and a vibrant marina. We’ll take a break here for lunch, giving you time to savor fresh seafood or explore the town’s cozy cafés.
Estoril is a stylish coastal town with a fascinating World War II history, once a refuge for spies and exiled royalty. Its famous Casino Estoril even inspired Ian Fleming’s Casino Royale, shaping the world of James Bond. Today, it remains a destination of elegance, with beautiful beaches and a touch of old-world glamour.

We had an amazing time on our tour with Rodrigo. His knowledge and expertise makes you appreciate what you are seeing instead of just passing through. Not only did we get great pictures, we also learned a great deal of the history and culture of Portugal. We would definitely recommend Rodrigo and we hope to do another tour with him in the future. He went above and beyond our expectations and made us laugh until the very end.

Hello Greg and Inna! Thank you for your kind review. I'm really happy to hear you enjoyed the day and found the recommendations helpful. Think about it: For not much more than your standard Sintra tour, you can have a private tour with an excellent guide. Want to linger at the gardens of Sintra? Do it. Not interested in a well? Cut it short. You don't like stressing about making the meet up time? Don't. Do you get annoyed when other tourists ask stupid questions that the guide just answered? This is the tour for you. And even if none of the above is true, Rodrigo is a great guide. Easy to understand, funny, and well educated in the subject matter. We did a lot of cool things in our packed Lisbon trip, but this was the best thing we did. Thank you Rodrigo for a great experience!

We took a private tour of Sintra, the Pena Palace and Cascais with Rodrigo as our guide. He was friendly, welcoming and helpful. His English was good making it easy for is to communicate and understand what he was saying . He was great at letting us customize our experience; allowing us to adjust as we went depending on what we were enjoying. We had a wonderful combination of conversation and learning the history of the sites. Out of all of the guided tours I've done traveling, he has been my favorite guide. Thanks for a lovely day Rodrigo!

From the moment we booked, the communication from the organizers was excellent. They were flexible and clearly focused on tailoring the experience to our preferences. Rodrigo, our guide, got in touch with us before the trip and picked us up right on time. He was incredibly knowledgeable and shared great insights throughout the day. The tour itself was fantastic—Sintra and the Pena Palace were absolutely stunning, with breathtaking architecture and beautiful gardens. We were especially glad we arrived early, as the lines were already quite long by the time we left. Cascais was also a highlight, and Rodrigo recommended a fantastic seafood restaurant (Luzmar) that was delicious and very reasonably priced.
