Itinerary
The cathedral was built at the end of the 19th century to mark 900 years of Orthodox Christianity on these lands. Used to be the main temple of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church of the Kiev Patriarchate
Luxury and beauty - such associations arise when you look at this amazing structure. The building of the National Opera of Ukraine, made in the style of French neo-Renaissance, is considered one of the business cards of the capital of Ukraine.
One of the two sights of Kiev, which partially survived from the 11th century. From the 11th to the 13th century, the Golden Gate served as the main ceremonial entrance to the "Upper City" of Kiev. We will enter to the Golden Gate Museum.
St. Sophia Cathedral in Kyiv was built in XI century. This outstanding architectural monument of Kievan Rus is one of the main attractions of the Ukrainian capital. Since 1990, the temple is included in the UNESCO list. If you like to enter to the territory of St. Sophia Cathedral, you can do it after the tour. The enter ticket cost is 6 euro/person. Our guide can help you to get back there from the tour end point Independence Square.
Then we visit The Old Kyiv's Hill where according to the legend the oldest brother of the founders of Kyiv Kyi began his reign in the distant 5th century. You will see the remains of the foundation of the Church of Tithe. The baptism of Kyivan Rus began from this place. Here, Prince Vladimir built the first largest stone Orthodox church of Kyivan Rus. Also we will see The Idol of the Pagan God Perun made from wood, the 400 years old Linden Tree, little pretty Tithe Church of the Navity of the Blessed Virgin Mary and amazingly beautiful view on the Lower City Podil.
The current structure of the church began when Russian Empress Elizabeth decided to construct a summer residence for herself in Kyiv, consisting of a palace and a church. The church was constructed in 18th century, to a design by the Italian architect Bartolomeo Rastrelli. The church has no bells, as according to legend, their noise would cause flooding of the left part of the city.
It is the main Cathedral of the Orthodox Church of Ukraine and there is a functioning monastery on the territory. The Cathedral was completely destroyed in 1930's by Soviet regime.
Maidan Nezalezhnosti (literally: the Independence Square) is the heart of the modern Kyiv, its main and the most beautiful square that has become the symbol not only of the Ukrainian capital, but of the whole country. Being significantly transformed in the last ten years, it turned into the favourite walking place of Kyiv's locals and its numerous guests. Today it is the capital's most famous and visited sight.

Inna was a fantastic guide, tailoring our tour by car specifically for us. She is extremely knowledgeable and her enthusiasm and friendliness made our experience a lot of fun. Our tour with Inna really made our trip to Kyiv and helped us to get to know the city in a short time. Inna speaks excellent English and was very flexible, picking us up from our hotel and dropping us off for lunch in the Old Town at the end of our tour. I would definitely recommend Inna as a tour guide for anyone who wants a local perspective on this amazing city.
