On this half day tour in Soweto, your guide, who was born and raised in Soweto, will take you past all the hotspots in Soweto. The Soweto tour will take you deep into the township culture, so you can enjoy a personal experience of how vibrant and lively this part of Johannesburg really is. On our way to Soweto we pass by the National Football Stadium, which hosted the opening and closing ceremonies of the World Cup 2010. We enter the Diepkloof area, where we will take a walk past vendors selling just about anything. In Orlando West we visit Vilakazi Street- drive past the former home of Nelson Mandela and past the home of Archbishop Desmond Tutu. You will have an opportunity to read about the Soweto uprising on 16 June 1976. On that tragic day an innocent little boy called Hector Pieterson gave up his life and kick-started the liberation of South Africa. During this Soweto tour we will pass by the Mandela House. A visit into the museum is optional. We continue our Soweto tour driving into one of the shanty towns where you get to interact with some of the locals. We drive past the Soweto Campus of the Johannesburg University and end our tour with a stop at the largest hospital in the world: Chris Hani Baragwanath Hospital.

Soweto tour was an unforgettable experience. Our driver Daniel was exceptional, we felt safe every step of the way with him. The drive through the area was fascinating and gave a real sense of the history, culture, and daily life of the community. Visiting Mandela House was especially meaningful—it was powerful to stand in such an important place connected to Nelson Mandela’s life and legacy. The artwork throughout Soweto was vibrant and inspiring, adding so much color and personality to the streets. Every stop felt rich with history and culture. I highly recommend this tour to anyone wanting to learn more about South Africa and experience the spirit of Soweto.

I booked this tour the same morning for departure from my hotel at 12:30 p.m. the same day. I received immediate confirmation of the reservation and was charged the entire amount. The driver never showed up, my hotel there contacted the tour operator who told us that it was canceled due to a late reservation. And Tripadvisor offers a partial refund that doesn't even cover half of the service! It's a scam!
