Description
The experience will be a fun and informative one. Your guide has extensive experience in tours, entertainment and loves communication with people. The tour gives you a very good background to South Africa and the Apartheid History. Your guide will tell you personal stories of his experiences in South Africa that will fill in all the blanks that wont be seen at museums. Shane is the author of White Boy. A book about a boy growing up in SA during the apartheid era. He will include on the tour many stories about South Africa and his experiences. This is an educational tour of a 3rd generation South African. The Apartheid museum is a world class museum. The Constitutional Court is a unique opportunity to visit the highest court in our country. The prison will round off your SA experience

Vilakazi Street is where Nelson Mandela and Bishop Tutu Houses are. There is also a number of restaurants. we drive through the area giving you an idea of what makes Soweto tick.
During our drive to Soweto we will give you a good general idea of the township including history and interesting facts. We will also include information on Mandela House, shanty towns and security. We will drop you at the Mandela house in Soweto, this is our first stop. You then pay your entry fee and a guide will accompany you on the tour. The cost of the tour is R 100. When you are finished we will go to the next stop in Vilakazi street.
We take you into the township for a ride to see the different areas
NB THE MUSEUM IS ONLY OPEN WEDNESDAY TO SUNDAY . This is an amazing visit and something all travelers should experience. It gives you a very good idea what South Africa was before independence. We allow you a max of 3 hours to walk through the museum. The cost is R 150. We will give you a run down on what you can expect to experience on our drive from Soweto. This is the most popular tourist attraction in Johannesburg.
One of my favourite tours. Visit the prison that Mandela, Ghandi and many famous politicians spent doing jail time. You also see the Old Fort, Ladies Prison and the new Constitutional Court. It’s a sad history of how badly people where treated and hopefully with our new constitution this will not happen again. Cost is R 90 per person
A drive pass the central business district that has been vocated by most big business head offices and our stock market. We also pass many of the huge gold mine dumps and Anglo American Gold head offices.

We really enjoyed our day with Shane. He was extremely friendly, engaging, and knowledgeable about the role of apartheid in the development of South African society. Unfortunately, we were unable to visit the Apartheid Museum (as it was closed due to Good Friday) but he made up for it by taking us to Lesedi Cultural Village and the Cradle of Humankind. We truly enjoyed our time with him and it was a perfect introduction to South Africa.
Thanks very much for the positive review. Yes that's the beauty of a private tour we could change the programme.. I am so happy you enjoyed. All the best Shane
This was just South African born Shane, myself and my husband. Shane was very knowledgeable personable and accumulating. We went early to Mandela's house so we're the only ones there and had a lovely tour guide to ourselves. The apartheid museum is well worth a visit, (you could choose how long you stay there) as was Melrose Arch where we ended our tour. It was good to get a realistic view of Soweto which wasn't as I thought it would be. I would strongly recommend this tour.
What a fantastic couple. I had so much fun. Thank you for the review and ook forward to seeing you again. Safe travels Shane
Shane was an excellent guide. We learned so much about the history, the government, the economy and more on our tour with him. He is a delightful person and we enjoyed our time with him very much!

Enjoyed the questions and chatting about my beautiful country . Was a tour to remember . Go well and Enjoy your travels. Shane
We had a brilliant time on our tour and seen a lot of sights in a short period of time. Our guide, Shane, was very knowledgeable and took us to the sights at the right times to avoid any queues. Shane took photos of us at the various sights so we didn’t have to at the time and gave us a great restaurant recommendation. As first time visitors to Johannesburg, we greatly appreciated Shane’s knowledge of the area and felt very safe on the trip. We learned so much about South African history and would highly recommend this tour!
Thank you Karla for a wonderful review. It was so much much fun with you and you Mom. All the best for the future. Shane
Interesting half-day tour with Shane through the Soweto neighborhood and the Mandela house. The visit to the Apartheid Museum was interesting and overwhelming. The visit to the Constitutional Court was very interesting. Shane gave us a lot of background information about South Africa and its history, without going into too much detail. We really enjoyed it.
Hi Christine. Thank you for the positive review. All the best with your travels. Shane
Our tour with Shane was truly a fantastic experience! From the first moment everyone felt welcome and at ease. Shane is not only incredibly friendly and welcoming, but also a real connoisseur of the area. He told with great enthusiasm and humour about the history, culture and special stories that you hear nowhere else. What made this tour extra special was that Shane was perfectly suited to our interests. He took the time to answer questions and made sure we got to the most beautiful places – some even real hidden gems we never found ourselves.

We took a tour of Johannesburg with Shane. Shane picked us up at 2 different hotels and we headed out. We hit the highlights recommended by Shane as we were open to anything.
