Itinerary
Begin your private Rome food tour with an authentic aperitivo. Sip sparkling wine and sample local cold cuts and cheeses inside a cozy enoteca for the perfect introduction to an evening out in Rome.
Next, stop at a beloved takeaway where locals have lined up for decades for supplì, golden fried rice balls filled with mozzarella. You'll quickly learn why this specific shop has been serving the same great supplì for decades.
Pop over to a neighborhood bar where time seems to stand still. Enjoy the lively ambience over a refreshing spritz as your guide shares how Italians perfected the art of the aperitivo and how this ritual still shapes Rome’s evenings.
Enjoy a brief pause for a cultural stop to admire the Basilica of Our Lady, which is said to be oldest church dedicated to the Virgin Mary in Rome and the first official place of Christian worship.
In a tucked-away wine bar, sample two Italian wines with gourmet bruschetta. Learn expert tips on how to pair food and wine to bring out the most flavor.
Finally, it's time for dinner. Sit down at a family-run osteria that's usually booked up, but with your guide you'll get in without a reservation. Enjoy plates of amatriciana or carbonara served family-style and your choice of red or white wine.
End with a creamy artisan gelato from a local gelateria for a sweet end to your night in Trastevere.

John Paul was our guide and he was FANTASTIC!! The part of the city was beautiful, authentic and full of Roman kids playing ball in their piazza. The restaurants were beautiful, used/emphasized farm to table quality of regional well prepared foods. John Paul, however, created a wholesome experience, filled with excellent information and tips on how to dine in Rome. What to look for in menus, how to ask after ingredient lists for authentic Roman dishes, what to look for on the outside of the restaurant to gauge whether or not it prioritized quality and tasty food, the list goes on! We are forever in his debt for what he shared and the friendly manner in which he guided us around several Roman establishments!
Andrea was absolutely fantastic and one of the highlights of our time in Rome. As a local Roman, he brought the city’s food, wine, history, and culture to life while guiding us through some incredible culinary landmarks we never would have discovered on our own. He was knowledgeable, engaging, and wonderfully attentive to our entire family, making sure my wife and kids felt included and comfortable throughout the experience. If you’re looking for an authentic food tour in Rome, I couldn’t recommend Andrea more highly.
