Private Riga Old Town Walking Tour

Description
If you’re looking for an engaging and informative tour that covers the complex history of Riga but also explores what it is like to live here today, then this is the tour for you. We will not miss any of old Riga’s most famous landmarks on our walk including St Peter’s Church, Town Hall Square and Dome Square, but don’t expect a dry history lesson. On this tour, you’ll find out about the surprising origins of the Latvian language, the fate of churches during the Soviet occupation and the little known history of Latvia’s symbol of independence. This is both a personal and a comprehensive tour of the old town. I love telling people about my city and, having travelled a lot myself, I know how enriching an authentic local perspective can be.

Experienced guide with significant knowledge. We gave Ben to Riga several times and he provided facts that were not shared before. Highly recommended.
To get into the right atmosphere, I absolutely recommend starting your journey with a guided tour of the historic center and, if like me you are not great at English, know that there is (incredibly) a fantastic guide who speaks Italian: Nelli Saraceno (GetYourGuide). Nelli gave us a couple of spectacular tips (always with attention to price). And do not leave Riga without taking a tour of the occupation museum: it will help you understand why people in Riga have a hardness in their gaze.
Fantastic couples private tour around Riga. Our guide, Emils, spoke almost perfect English, and was extremely knowledgeable of Riga’s past, present and future. Was a perfect way to spend 2 1/2 hours walking around old town Riga, hitting all the highlights and getting great background history on each one of them. Highly recommended. Request Emils as your guide.
Mr. Edwards was a fantastic guide. Good storytelling, in english, with good exciting knowledge!
Wonderful tour! Edwards was very personable and he made it easy to follow the history.
The guide was quite knowledgeable and spoke very good English. It was easy to make questions and learn lots of information.
Our tour guide was great, punctual, friendly and enthusiastic throughout the two hour tour asking your. He was extremely knowledgeable about the history of Riga/Latvia, the architecture all over the city and how it’s changed over time and restorations. We felt we’d had an informed lesson from our guide, an excellent start to discovering Riga, not just a load of wise cracks and highly recommend this tour.
Our tour guide, Eduardas, was simply fantastic! He pitched the tour perfectly for our students (aged 12-14) and was engaging and very informative. He was patient, waiting for slower legs to catch-up!, and extremely knowledgeable about the history of Riga and very talented speaking 4 languages! Thank you, Eduardas.
Edwards was a great tour guide. He had a good historical knowledge of Riga and Latvia. He made the tour very engaging and was very able in answering the questions that we had. I recommend this tour for any first time visitors to Riga.
Edvards was an excellent guide! Very witty, interesting and charismatic and kept a very tight pace on a cold winter’s day in Riga. Thank you so much for a great experience!
