Private Jodhpur Blue City Walking Tour with Guide

Description
Jodhpur is often referred to as the "Blue City" because many of its houses, havelis (traditional mansions), temples, and buildings in the old part of town are painted in vivid shades of blue. This distinctive color has a historical significance and is believed to have been used by the Brahmin caste to distinguish their homes from others. Jodhpur's old city is a maze of narrow, winding lanes that are full of history. Exploring these lanes on foot allows you to discover hidden gems and experience the city's authentic charm up close.

The Ghanta Ghar in Jodhpur is a magnificent clock tower in the centre of the city, it was built in 1910 to 1912 by Maharaja Sardar Singh about 113 years ago. Known as the clock tower of Rajasthan, it is a popular landmark that signifies the start of Old Jodhpur. The tower offers a brilliant panoramic view of the city from the top. The area surrounding this imposing structure is bustling with locals presenting all sorts of products and services, making it the busiest and largest marketplace of Jodhpur. The markets and the tower are a must visit for travellers who want to witness and experience the culture and people of Jodhpur. The clock tower is surrounded by street markets, with the most famous amongst them being Sardar Market, named after the late king. One can find a variety of people in this locality, representing all walks of life. At night, the tower comes to life when it is all lit up, making for a glorious end to a day well spent at this bountiful market.
Toorji’s Step Well – was built in the 1740s by Maharaja Abhaya Singh’s Queen. Submerged for nearly a century, its recent drainage, clean-up and restoration has uncovered over two hundred feet of hand carved treasure in Jodhpur’s famous Rose-Red Sand-Stone; intricate carvings of dancing elephants, medieval lion and cow water-spouts, and niches housing deities long gone. Your stay in Jodhpur would be incomplete without a visit to this wondrous monument.
Will walk to narrow street deep in city to view blue house and market in old city.
The temple was built in 1847 by Maharaja Vijay Singhji in the memory of his deceived son Sher Singh who died at a very young age. The temple is situated in the interiors of Jaipur but is accessible by all means. The shrine is made of Chittor sandstone and Makrana marble. The temple belongs to Rama Nandi Vaishnava sects of Hindus. The marvelous architecture of the building is something to keep a note of. A Shiva temple is also there which is 2 floors below the surface but can be seen from the surface. A pathway is also there to visit the temple.
The Ranisar and Padamsar lakes are two adjoining lakes in the city of Jodhpur built over 500 years ago. They are situated at the rear of the Mehrangarh Fort, near the Fateh Pol. These scenic lakes were created to conserve water, as Jodhpur falls under a desert region where water is scarce. The tranquillity of these adjacent lakes is complemented brilliantly by the stark contrast of the majestic Mehrangarh Fort, making it a sight to behold. The clear waters have been preserved and maintained for centuries, providing a serene vibe and an almost identical reflection of the grand fort on its surface.

We had a very pleasant and interesting tour with Ali. He is very knowledgeable and takes his time walking through the small and charismatic streets of the blue city explaining their context. We had lassi, the bazaars are amazing and the market is also quite something. Would defs recommend.
Ali has been helpful and informative during our tour of Jodhpur market and fort. At the market he’s showcased perfectly the local way of living and at the fort all interesting historical facts!
Ali was great and took his time to show us around Jodhpur. His knowledge of the cultural and points were really impressive.
Loved the visit and everything about it, Ali was thorough and clear.
Ali’s knowledge of the history and religion of Jodhpur made for a fascinating evening walk. Ali is very friendly and his English is impeccable.
Ali Born was a fabulous guide. He has an intimate knowledge of Jodhpur and could explain in great detail the sceneries and customs of the contemporary inhabitants as well as those that came before. Also, if you have any specific requests he will do his best to accommodate you. Lastly, he gave us a tip to go and eat in a restaurant which retrospectively was one of our favourite places during our trip in Rajasthan.
The tour with Ali was wonderful, we enjoyed a long day of learning about the city. Ali took his time to explain everything in a very easy and extended manner. Additionally, we were able to ask and talk about many other topics concerning India and it's rich culture. Not only did we enjoy the tour, we also enjoy very much the food in the restaurant that he very nicely recommended, very very happy with it. The entire day was totally worth it! This was definitely the best way to get to know the city! It was a real pleasure, Ali! Greetings from your friends from Spain and France living in Switzerland!!!
Amazing walk around Jodhpur- Ali took us to streets we probably wouldn’t have found on foot alone. Well worth the walk, a very informative tour and would 100% recommend. Like all these tours you will visit spice shop and artefacts which can be shipped home but the sellers accepted we were restricted on luggage weight and style in our home - would have been better to ask us if we wanted to visit these places. It’s disappointing for the sales staff if you don’t buy
Ali is a very knowledgeable guide - we thoroughly enjoyed our tour throughout the city. He was able to explain some of the deeper religious and cultural nuances within the area that is often lacking in other tours. Would highly recommend!
Ali is a really knowledgeable, skilled, expert guide! My friends and me had a very positive experience with him! He also solved brilliantly every organizational issue! We recommend him absolutely for a guided tour in Jodhpur! He' s also very nice and gentle!
