This was, without a doubt, one of the best shore excursions we’ve ever taken. Our guide, Martins, was exceptional. He was professional, kind, knowledgeable, and genuinely cared about making our day perfect. He picked us up promptly at the cruise port, and from the moment we met him, everything was seamless. Throughout the day, he shared fascinating information about Latvia and Lithuania, their history, culture, and landmarks, making the long drives enjoyable and educational. Our itinerary included the breathtaking Hill of Crosses, where we had plenty of time to explore this unique and moving place. We also stopped for a delicious traditional Lithuanian lunch at Forrest Restaurant, where we enjoyed excellent cepelinai and beef Stroganoff. In the afternoon, we toured the magnificent Rundāle Palace, one of the most beautiful palaces we’ve visited in Europe. The best surprise came because we were ahead of schedule. Martins added several bonus photo stops around Riga, allowing us to see the stunning House of the Blackheads, St. Peter’s Church, Riga Cathedral (Dome Church), the Freedom Monument, the beautiful Art Nouveau district, and even the world’s largest helicopter. These unexpected additions made an already wonderful tour even more memorable. Most importantly, Martins made sure we returned to our cruise ship with plenty of time to spare, so we never felt rushed or worried about getting back to port. If you’re visiting Riga on a cruise and want to experience both Latvia and Lithuania in a single day, I cannot recommend this tour highly enough. It was well organized, comfortable, informative, and filled with unforgettable sights. Martins was the best guide we could have hoped for, and this was truly the best tour of our Baltic cruise.
Martins was fantastic! We had such a great time on our tour. I reached out ahead of time because I was interested in swapping out one of the stops for something else, and we were able to do that no problem! We still stopped at the original stop because he felt it was still something we needed to see even for a few minutes. My husband and I are pilots and when we told him that, he said he had a surprise stop in mind for us at the end of the tour. We ended up being out an hour later than planned and we appreciated his willingness to do that for us. We had such a great time and would absolutely recommend him to anyone looking to do this tour!
This is a really great trip. Definitely a must do when you are in Riga! Martin is going to be your driver and guide for the day! He is such a nice guy, great driver and very knowledgeable about everything! He not only told us a lot of interesting facts about the places we’ve seen on the tour, but has also been kind enough to tell us stories and information about Riga and Latvia in general. We recommend booking this trip and enjoying an amazing day with Martin!
