Itinerary
Meet our guide in Parma and head on to visit an authentic producer of Parmigiano-Reggiano PDO: you’ll discover how the King of all cheeses has been literally made by hand in the same way since the Benedictine monks invented it 10 centuries ago! From the curdling into the typical copper heaters to the salting and the final ageing in the so-called wheel cathedrals, you will be a privileged witness of almost all the steps of production of this out-and-out food icon. Tasting at the end.
Guided visit with final tasting at one of the local family-run ham factories producing the mythical Prosciutto di Parma PDO: you will get to know why the best ham can only be made in the hills of Parma, where the marino wind blows from the Ligurian Sea through the river valley.
Full lunch based on the typical products of the area: Prosciutto as well as other kind of local cold cuts, a typical stuffed pasta dish (tortelli di Parma), homemade cakes, all paired up with local wines like Lambrusco and Malvasia!

This was a great tour! We decided a week before our trip to do this and the last minute decision wasn't a problem at all. The driver was great and convenient. Our guide was friendly and gave us all the information we needed and then some. Highly recommend this tour.

We really enjoyed it. It is as the other reviews says. Driver was nice and prompt, no talking. Elena was really a great guide!! She was knowledgable and lovely. It's true you don't get a sample of the prosciutto from the factory, but right after they take you to lunch, where there is plenty.
Thank you so much for your kind review! It's an inspiration for all the travellers out there and a satisfaction for us to keep going in this direction. Hope to have you here again in the future!
A very informational tour on the processes involved in the creation of Parmesano reggiano cheese, Parma ham, and traditional balsamic vinegar. Our trip was provided by Food Valley, Elena being our guide. She was very enjoyable and knowledgeable. The factories were very welcoming. It would have been nice if water had been provided in the van. The van driver was prompt. However, there was no attempt at conversation for the hour trip from Milan & back. I realize he was not the guide but some information about the countryside might have been nice. If you are a foodie this is a great tour.
Thank you so much for your kind review! It's an inspiration for all the travellers out there and a satisfaction for us to keep going in this direction and to improve.. We will keep in mind seriously your suggestion. Hope to have you here again in the future!

If you get the driver option this tour is REALLY expensive. It was a smooth ride, and our driver was really good. But be prepared to only spend about 35 minutes at each factory. We spent just as long parked on the side of the road looking at the castle. your going to spend most of your time driving between each location, as they are not close together. You will not get a tasting at the Parma ham factory, which is disappointing. Also the Cheese factory we went to has a store, but doesn't ship. They honestly told us, it wasn't worth their bother. So you can't bring anything with you.

I am glad that we did the tour, I am just not sure we got our money's worth. The tour guy, while limited English was very good.

Also, if you don't like heights, this tour isn't for you. Both the parm ham factory we went to, and the lunch location were on the top of very high hills, that required driving up steep, one lane roads. It reminded me of tours we took in Almafi.

This tour was wonderful...so interesting.
Our tour guide, Amalda, was amazing. She is a lovely girl, so knowledgable about the areas visited.
We learned so much. Highly recommended.
