Description

Escape the city for an authentic Norwegian culinary adventure. Just 35 minutes from central Oslo, join a professional chef (10+ years experience) for an intimate forest walk that blends raw nature with "grandma’s flavors." This is not your everyday city food tour. You won’t find street food or restaurant-hopping here. Instead, we swap the pavement for forest trails and busy dining rooms for the "dining table of nature." The Experience Explore the Nordmarka forest in a small group, learning the secrets of mountain gastronomy from a seasoned pro. Sample rare, traditional flavors rarely found in restaurants, including cured mountain trout, venison, and horse. Enjoy a generous feast prepared over a cauldron, featuring wild Scandinavian meats and fresh waffles with brunost. The Seasons: In summer, swim in a crystal-clear lake while we set the table. In winter, gather around a traditional crackling bonfire. Come hungry—this is a full dinner in the wild! Let us know about food allergy!!

Unique and yummy

A very unique and delightful experience of Norwegian food and culture. The food was a fun mix of different tastes made by a chef who puts his heart into his dishes… from the fresh herbs grown at his home to the salmon he cures himself. And we enjoyed the famous fresh air lifestyle of Norway along the way. If you love a one-of-a-kind culinary experience, give this one a chance.

Operator response

Tusen takk, Wendy! I'm so glad you enjoyed our taste of the Norwegian friluftsliv (open-air life). It was a true pleasure cooking for you, and I'm thrilled you appreciated the home-grown herbs and the cured salmon—I love putting that extra care into the dishes. Thank you for the wonderful review! Best, Andreas

Do it!

If you do on thing when you are in the Oslo area, make it this! From the stunning Metro ride up to the meeting point, to the incredible scenery and outstanding flavours you won’t regret booking this tour! I’ve done so many food tours but nothing comes close to this. Andreas was such a brilliant host, really friendly, knowledgeable and funny. He puts such care into the tiniest of details and really take pride over his dishes. Being able to stop and swim in a lake, before being served fresh stew and waffles cooked over a cauldron in the forest… it was unforgettable. If you are in Oslo DO THIS TOUR!

A feast in the forest.

An amazing afternoon. Book this tour. Today, a cold day in late March I happened to be the only person to book this experience. Andras happily guided just me. As instructed I took Metro line 1 to the last stop. This was a great experience. I started in a downtown subway station. Over the hour long metro ride the train left the tunnel and winded up the hills outside of Oslo. Beautiful views of the fjords, wood etc. Andras met me at the station and we wandered in to the woods on snow covered trails. We stopped for a warm drink, later a tasty appetizer and then finally the main course. This is not a food tour. It is a feast.

Hi Jeff, Thank you so much for this fantastic review! I am so glad that we went ahead with the tour, despite the late March chill and being the only guest that day. It was an absolute pleasure sharing the forest with you. I'm thrilled you enjoyed the scenic Metro ride up the hills and the snowy trek through the woods. I always aim to make the food feel like a true forest feast rather than just a standard tasting, so hearing that it hit the mark for you means a lot to me. Thank you for your high recommendation, and I hope the rest of your time in Oslo was just as memorable! Warm regards, Andreas Troll Tours

An unforgettable tour with a fantastic guide!

I am so glad I did this tour! Andreas our guide was superb all the way through our tour. We met at Frognerseteran Metro. It is so easy to get the tube from Oslo Central so don’t be put off by travelling to the meet up point.. We walked through forests and had many breaks where Andreas would tell us the history of Norway, in particular the food. We tried so many different local dishes and ended up with a fantastic stew over a fire pit next to the lake. I would recommend this to anyone. Thank you so much, Andreas.

Unique way to get to know Oslo

We loved our experience with Andreas! This tour uniquely blends a love of food, history and nature, made even more special by Andreas preparing the food himself, all of which was very delicious, and his strong storytelling skills. Andreas went above and beyond to make our particular tour a good experience since we had rainy conditions. The tour also takes place in an area that gets you outside of the city and provides a unique perspective to Oslo culture. Highly recommend!

Definitely recommend you try this!

Amazing experience! He picked us up right at the metro. He took us on a walk around in nature while giving us a bit of Norwegian history. There is a washroom about halfway on the adventure. The food was absolutely fantastic!
