The Great Mosque is the symbol of Kairouan. It is one of the oldest and most beautiful mosques in the world, one of the most impressive monuments in all of the Maghreb! Its religious prestige makes Kairouan the 4th holiest city in Islam. We admire its imposing minaret, its majestic courtyard of impressive dimensions, surrounded by superbly designed arcades and housing a sundial, and the tall, richly carved cedar wood doors. They open onto the prayer rooms, decorated with dozens of marble columns. Built in 670, this architectural masterpiece, whose appearance evokes an adobe fortress, inspired other mosques in the Maghreb.
The Kairouan medina is one of the most preserved and authentic in Tunisia, where you can take a look in the souks, taste Kairouan's pastries "Les Mekroudhs" and its artisanal carpet manufacturing.
The Aghlabid basins are a Tunisian historical monument located in Kairouan. Dated from the beginning of the second half of the 9th century and located outside the ramparts of the medina of Kairouan, they are considered the most important hydraulic works in the history of the Muslim world.
A visit to the Roman Colosseum, founded in the 3rd century AD and listed as a world heritage site in 1972, able to accommodate 30,000 spectators, third in the Roman world in size after that of Rome and that of Capua, the amphitheater of El Djem and the most impressive Roman monument in Africa.
It is the oldest and most important of the defensive works erected along the Maghreb coast by Arab conquerors at the dawn of Islam. Founded in 796, this building underwent several renovations during the medieval period. Initially, in the shape of a quadrilateral, it is made up of four buildings opening onto two interior courtyards. In addition to the small cells of the “warrior monks” who, while carrying out their military functions, devoted themselves to prayer and contemplation, the Ribat houses two prayer rooms, the most spacious of which today houses rare cult collectibles. and medieval crafts. times. A hundred spiral steps provide access to the watchtower, from the top of which light messages are exchanged at night with the towers of neighboring ribats and which offers the visitor a superb view of the city of Monastir and its surroundings.

Fabulous day, quite far but well worth it. El Jem is a must, absolutely amazing place.
As the only passenger I had the chance to replace Monastir with Sousse. Like this the itinerary eventually included 3 unique monuments, the Medina of Kairouan, the colosseum of El Jem and the Medina of Sousse, a great combination for the UNESCO hunters. Thanks to my guide Mohamed Benmoussa we walked through history and reached every monumental corner. Simply, a great day away from the capital.
The visited locations are very beautiful, we highly recommend them! Our driver was punctual and quick in transportation. Unfortunately, we had requested an Italian driver who did not arrive! Moreover, our driver spoke broken English. It was not very clear at the time of purchase from the app whether the entries were included! This created some awkwardness regarding it!

A day of sightseeing with Yaya, just great! Clear explanations at each place, we went at our own pace, driving the minivan by the impeccable driver. My parents and I recommend this excursion!
It was a clever way of squeezing a few disparate locations (~400km round trip) into a single day, and having a local guide and driver the whole time made the experience very easy and low hassle. The hotel pickup and drop off was great. It was a good day!
Excellent day out for the two of us and Didon Tours provided a very friendly driver and guide for our trip from Hammamet. It was a long day but fascinating, with the El Jem coliseum the clear highlight due to the absolutely massive scale of the structure still remaining. Our guide provided excellent background information and we explored everywhere available. The other two visits to Kairouan and Monastir were very informative as well. All in all places that everyone should visit.
Excellent day to get immersed with the heritage of Roman and Arabic culrures. Thanks a lot to Ziad for the experience and flexibility all the way!
Guide was very professional and wonderful but only carpet shop was took longer , which is not necessary for our tour, anyway overall is good
Excellent tour! Highly recommended! Three sites of great interest are visited. Beautiful panoramas. We chose guide in French. Both driver and guide very friendly and professional. Extensive knowledge of history and excellent predisposition to answer and clarify questions and doubts. A day to remember.
Really informative guide who was very knowledgeable and didnt make us feel rushed. Worth the drive and so much nicer to have a driver than have to drive ourselves. El Jem is spectacular and Kirouan and the fort at Monastir also worth seeing. Much better than the larger coach trip we did to another site.
