Itinerary
The Baptistry of San Giovanni is the oldest architectural building in the city center of Florence. Part of the Duomo's complex with the Cathedral, the Giotto Belltower and the Opera del Duomo museum. The jewel of the collection where all the wealthy florentines have been baptized, including Dante Alighieri, the writer of the Divine Comedy.
We'll have a ticket to skip-the long line to get inside the famous Cathedral of Florence, worlwide known for the important rules this building always got. Great artists like Brunelleschi, Donatello, Michelangelo and many others, all worked to realize one of the most important artworks in world. Emblem, with its Baptistry of the revolutionary art's movement called "The Renaissance", the Cathedral of Florence became the symbol of this time with the huge dome, invented by Filippo Brunelleschi... but we cannot forget other art-works inside, including the Crypth.
The museum was created since many centuries ago as deposit of some art-works that should be removed from the Cathedral and the Baptistry but, with the passing of time, the place became always more important that was remodelled many times, the last one few years ago, when was realized one of the greatest and wonderful museums in the world. Really, you'll be amazed from this museum, almost invisible from outside but incredible inside! The huge original bronze-gilded gates of the Baptistry, the original medieval fasade of the Duomo, the collection of the decorations of the Bell tower, the sculptures of the greatest artist and much more, shown in a very contemporary museum's visit. Not to be missed!
