Between the 9th and 13th centuries the town of Amalfi was capital of its own maritime Duchy and equally as powerful as Venice, Genoa and Pisa. Now a Unesco World Heritage Site, Amalfi is famous for its beautiful cathedral, it’s exquisite handmade ceramics and of course it’s lemons! Here you have free time on your own in the pedestrian areas to take in this lively town, sampling its famous Limoncello, lemon squash and pastries since 1820. From Amalfi, your private English-speaking chauffeur will drive you to the world renowned town of Positano. Once a thriving port, by the twentieth century, Positano had dwindled to become a small but picturesque fishing village when it was discovered in the 1950s by writers such as John Steinbeck. It went on to feature in several movies and it’s photogenic qualities- Moorish influenced architecture, buildings spilling down steep hills towards the sea and its views out towards the Sirenuse islands, have made it a ‘must see’ for all lovers of Italy. This tour includes a stop in Ravello to enjoy the gorgeous panoramic view of the coast from the 11th century villa Cimbrone. The streets are lined with ceramics of all kinds, characterized by bright colors and geometric patterns. You’ll get to see artisans at work and have a chance to purchase some for yourself or as gifts for friends and relatives. You will have time for lunch at your own expense, with the help of your driver that will be happy to suggest you one of his favorite restaurants, and enjoy a transfer back to Rome.

Paolo was attentive and professional. In Sorrento he left us at a very nice restaurant where we ate very well. Definitely not a tourist trap. He gave us good directions while in Sorrento, Positano and Amalfi and stopped often at picturesque look out points . Thanks to him I think we saw everything worth seeing with lots of leisure time to stroll and enjoy these beautiful places.
Our tour guide, Paul, was very attentive and very helpful… we had a great time with him in spite of the rain… it was beautiful…

Peter from Exploro tours was just amazing. There was no way we could have covered Sorento, Positano and Amalfi in a day with the 3 hour or so car ride from Rome. We had initially booked a rental car and after doing some research about the Amalfi drive, decided to opt for this private tour. Probably the best decision! Peter with his Mercedes’ made us feel special. He took us to the market place in Sorento where we shopped , had coffee and then our next stop was Positano, where we got couple hours to shop, eat and hit the beach! He always had good suggestions on where to eat, what to do etc. Then the last stop was Amalfi. Not to forget The various stops at vantage points to take pics. We enjoyed the view while sitting in a comfy AC car as it was also a hot day topping 90 deg F Kids and I slept on the way to and on the way back once we were on the freeway. Was hassle free and enjoyable . We did not have to worry about driving in a foreign country , worry about parking, where to shop etc. highly recommend this trip with Exploro tours via TripAdvisor . Great trip and Peter was a gentleman and we had a great day and will always remember this amazing day trip!
