The whole day was excellent, and the family really enjoyed it. Mo was a wonderful and knowledgeable guide and driver.
I booked directly with Pearl Harbor and the tour is operated by Polynesian Adventure. For about $250, you get to see just about everything: naval ferry to the USS Arizona Memorial grave, multiple Pearl Harbor Visitor Center exhibits including a virtual reality video, actual film footage of the attack in a movie theater, go inside the WWII Bowfin Submarine, Stroll the grounds with guided audio and visit the Remembrance Circle, Japanese Kaiten “suicide sub”, a 35 minute Guided deck tour of USS Missouri battleship with time to explore inside the ship as well, including locations of WWII surrender ceremony, office and crew quarters, artillery, kamikaze aircraft crash, and also halfway through the tour around 12:00 there was Delicious buffet style lunch (pulled pork, bbq chicken, salad, rice, juice, water) at Pearl Harbor Aviation Museum and exploration of two hangars with so many helicopters, trucks, and airplanes. You can go inside the cockpit of one of the airplanes at no extra cost. You can meet the CEO of the aviation museum who is a retired Blue Angels pilot and ask him questions. There is, for an extra fee of $11, an option to ride a flight simulator at the aviation museum and for $10 an option to go up into the flight tower maybe 10 stores high so you can see the entire Pearl Harbor all at once from above. The tour guide bus driver Chelsie was awesome, fun, helpful, very very very informative of Hawaiian culture, and provided complementary shortbread snacks and cold water for everyone throughout the 8 hour long trip. Make sure you eat breakfast, wear sunscreen, close toed shoes for 5 miles of walking (most of the trip is handicap friendly if you have a cane or walker but obviously not the exploration of the submarine and battleship due to tight spaces with ladders), and have your phone fully charged for many photos. Make sure you have your ID just in case they ask for it. Do not bring excess items; read the rules of what is/not allowed. This is a must do while in Oahu.
Chase was great he knew lots of history on the island. Good to have access to so many places and well done on avoiding the crowds. A very moving and interesting experience. Definitely recommend it. Lunch was good.
We started our tour on 1st May and not really knowing what to expect - then we met with “Mo”, our driver and tour guide for the day… Mo made us feel very comfortable and at ease from the very moment we met - she even brought banana bread and chilled water - we hadn’t had breakfast and this was a very welcome treat. Mo is a very talented lady and her knowledge of Hawaii and Pearl Harbour was amazing, it was delivered with flair and humour, this kept us entertained and informed. The Pearl Harbour is a very special site, loaded with enormous history and, when explained through the other tours guides on the watchtower and the Missouri & the Arizona battleship, it can become a deeply emotional experience. We were delighted and humbled to experience this tour with Mo. Declan & Bernadette Walsh Ireland
