Itinerary
Today is action packed and fast paced, so we make an early start from Hobart and drive directly to the stunning Tasman Peninsula. This area has amazing history, fascinating stories and spectacular scenery. It is also home to Australia’s highest sea cliffs. We enjoy the panoramic views of the area from Pirates Bay Lookout which provides a great vantage here of the surrounding area.
Passing through Eaglehawk Neck and “The Dogline” our Tour Guides will share with you some amazing history and stories of the area.
We begin one of Tasmania’s “Great Short Walks”. This is a short but spectacular track along the Waterfall Bay Clifftop. The walk is around 45 minutes, undulating and categorised as an easy walk. The track concludes at the remarkable rock formations of Tasman Arch and Devil’s Kitchen.
Next stop is the Tasmanian Devil Unzoo. We enjoy all the action of a Tasmanian Devil Feeding. Watch the snarling, fighting and bone crushing in a spectacle of devilish behaviour during the feeding. Hand feed the wallabies and walk among the local wildlife in this charming “Unzoo” setting.
Continuing our journey, we arrive at Port Arthur Historic Site. As we enter the Port Arthur Historic Site, there is a wealth of information and history to take in and to explore. Your entry includes a complimentary Harbour Cruise around the Isle of the Dead, ‘The Port Arthur Experience' a podcast that provides a fascinating introduction to the site, and complimentary site talks throughout the day led by Port Arthur’s expert guides . Discover the grim and violent history of the early Australian Penal system and get a sense of the isolation experienced by the convicts in this “inescapable prison”. With around 2.5 hours here, you have time to walk among the main penitentiary; see the solitary confinement cells and many more buildings in this World Heritage open air museum.
On our return to Hobart, we travel via the historic township of Richmond. Arriving late the in the afternoon, you will have time to meander the streets, stop for a coffee, visit the Lolly Shop, Chocolatier and walk across Australia’s oldest bridge still in use – a convict built sand-stone bridge, reported to be haunted! We arrive back into Hobart around 6.00pm.

Full day of activity and tiring . Value for money. Great kangaroo feeding with unlimited food access to feed them.
Wonderful day out exploring with a very informative, friendly tour guide. A earlier and longer visit in Richmond would have been great as most places were closed or closing as we got there
Thank you it was amazing journey we had good time we visited marion bay tasmanian unzoo and port arthur. our tour guide ben was very succesfull and helpfull we liked his guidance thanks for everything
It was the best time. Small group with so much fun, relaxing & loads of historical history, excellent easy walking, Heather was amazing, very reliable relaxing & accomadating. Tassie Devil was so eye opening, the real up front with seeing it get feed, was WOW, & you really feed the kangaroos & birds. Port Arthur was big place to look at, you can do 3 hours with tassie Devil or 4 hours just at Port Arthur. We did 3 hours, was good for us. It's a must to do this tour. We fit in so much in 1 day. Oh thanks to Heather we got to fit in the jail at Richmond was the icing on the cake, that has to be a much to do, didn't even know of that place, & I have being to Tasmania 7 times, my husband first time. Was nice that all admission was taken care off, so u can just enjoy the day. Heather even gave you a choice if you hated to do Tassie Devil tour at a extra cost, but still cheap tour way, than paying more there. It's really value for money.
You get to see a lot more than if you drive yourself. Good value being taken to four different places! Ben the bus driver is friendly, witty and so knowledgeable. He made it more enjoyable for us. Lovely at the last stop in Richmond for an hour to look around! Great value and glad we didn’t have to drive there! Highly recommended !
The tour was great and the guide was very much after making it a great experience to everyone!
Rainy day, but our tour guide was outstanding.
Thank you! Tasmania's weather has a mind of its own, but a great guide makes all the difference rain or shine. We'll pass your kind words on and hope to see you back exploring more of Tassie soon!
Weslee was a fabulous guide and made the experience very personal. Loved the itinerary, it had a great mix of history, nature, and water.
Thank you! Port Arthur, Richmond and the Tassie Devils really do make for a great mix in an action-packed day out. History, wildlife and scenery all in one. We hope to see you back in Tassie again soon!
Very complete I day tour of Tasmania west coast near Port Author. The guide was very knowledgeable about Tasmania in general, and the days it was a penal colony. The walk along the coast was spectacular. Our visit to the non-zoo was great. We saw birds, Tasmanian devils, kangaroos and wallabies. We had a nice glass wine in Richmond. Our guide entertained us throughout the drive with historical facts, and conservation activities protecting nature in Tasmania.
We really enjoyed this tour. So much to see and experience in one day. From the Unzoo to the Tasman National Park with its spectacular views to the rich and interesting history of Port Arthur and Richmond. We learned so much about the Tasmanian history and nature. Our tour guide Ian was fantastic! Very knowledgeable and happily answered the many questions I asked. This tour was well worth the money . Thanks for making Tasmania come alive for us and creating a memorable time visiting this beautiful island.
