I really debated on doing a tour or going it on our own with the audio. The tour was just what we needed. Our guide is also an archeologist and the experience was simply amazing. Be ready for a LOT of walking and LOTS of steps though.
The itinerary for the day was perfect, but what made the tour exceptional was our guide Giovanni. He is such a kind man. Answered all our questions and when we finished our tour he walked us to a great restaurant in Naples so we could eat local cuisine. Also, very important is Giovanni was an exceptional driver which we appreciated on the narrow Almafi coast.
Giovanni, our driver/guide was amazing. He was knowledgeable and friendly. Thank you Giovanni, recommend to others considering.
i was completo dissapointed the booking said a day en positano, sorry to and pompei but we never visited positano , the driver explained the tour just iicluded a panoramic view of position but we paid $571 for 4 people and the ticket specification didn’t said a panoramic view of position, it clearly said a visit to positano
Giovanni did a great job. We were in a group with 2 other couples. One couple never came & we waited 45 minutes. This wasted a great deal of our time. We got in a lot of traffic going to Sorrento. Therefor we only saw Postiano from afar. Once we got to Pompeii we only had an hour. Pompeii is difficult to see without a guide as you don’t know what anything is. All in all good excursions
We had this tour with Giovanni. It was a-ma-zing. Giovanni is really friendly, he drives well in the winding roads and he is so hospitable! We had a GREAT day with our 8 person group, we had amazing stops at viewing points, Pompeii was beautiful but the Amalfi coast, you don’t want to miss that! Really recommend it! Especially with Giovanni!
We were rushed through everything never even got to go into Positano just take a picture from afar. We were given not even 1 hour to walk around Sorrento then we’re driving to a “recommended” restaurant in Pompeii. Then had less than 2 hours to see Pompeii. My 5 year got car sick from the driving on Amalfi as almost our whole tour did. Very disappointing
Francesco met us outside the port in Naples - he was smartly dressed, answered all our questions and spoke about his family and life, the tour was relaxed and he pointed out major sights and gave us facts and stories. The van was air conditioned and we were offered water and sweets! Francesco hasGreat knowledge of the food and his culture - his recommnedation for a restaurant in Pompeii was perfect and he escorted us to enter Pompeii, where Askos staff met us with our tickets. This was a fantastic tour. First it is a small group (we had 4) which allowed very personalized service. Second,Francesco was amazing guide, answering all our questions. The time was very well spent! Just be advised that it gets hot in the summer and visiting Pompei in the afternoon means it is very warm!
The driver was excellent. The traffic was slow due to an accident so the time In Sorrento was too short. This was a beautiful place but we felt rushed there. The driver arranged for lunch at a restaurant at Pompeii. The food was fine but they sat all the tour together and would not divide the check, but only split it equally. We clearly paid more than we should have. The time in Pompeii was also shortened but we were able to see plenty of the site. We arrived back to our ship on time.
