Itinerary
Koper, an important European port and the largest city of the Slovene Coast. Your guide will pick you up at the agreed starting point in Koper, Slovenia - hotel, cruise terminal, bus station, train station etc. (please contact us after the booking so the appropriate arrangements can be made).
Piran is one of the oldest and most beautiful Slovene towns with rich history and culture. Almost 500 years lasting Venetian influence has given this town an inimitable charm. Its culture heritage is not at home only in museums since the architectural and artistic pearls, which decorate the everyday life of the local people, can be found at every corner.
Giuseppe Tartini, the world famous composer and violinist, who was born and raised in Piran, had a great impact on the town. Today, his bronze statue adorns the town’s main square together with Tartini’s house where visitors can admire one of his violins. The Tartini Square is surrounded by majestic buildings, such as the richly decorated Municipal Palace, Tartini Theatre, Maritime Museum, Aquarium, Marine Biological Station, Baroque House and Apollonio Palace. On the hill above the town is the biggest and most important church, the Church of Saint George, which offers a wonderful view. Piran’s town wall, narrow streets, fishermen’s nets, compact houses that rise up the slope and beautiful sea will give you the feeling of walking through a painting.
Portorož, which literally means 'Port of Roses', is a popular tourist destination with hotels, casinos and beautiful beaches. Nearby are located the Sečovlje natural salt pans where salts are extracted from the pure sea water using interesting traditional methods.
At the end, we will visit Izola, which is known for its fishing history.

This tour was grossly overpriced at £140 for what turned out for me to be a two hour tour of Piran. The guide for Piran was not even going to take us onto the town walls and was just going to walk past them until I asked him to take us there which he agreed to and all enjoyed the experience. The tour description is also very misleading as it says the tour is in English, whereas it was actually conducted in Engliah and Italian. I feel clients should be told in advance if a tour is going to be multilingual so they can choose not to go on it. The tour was also extremely disorganized. We spent 2 hours in Piran. When we were about to leave I asked the Piran guide where we were going next. The Piran guide did not know as he said he would only be present for the Piran part of the tour. So I asked the driver where we were going next and he thought we were going into Koper for wine and cheese. There was no mention of wine and cheese on the KoperTrips programme and I did not want to waste my time doing that as I had come to see the Slovenian coast. The driver suggested at one point we might be doing Predjama castle which alarmed me as I thought we were doing the Slovenian coast. So I abandoned the group tour in Piran and felt that it was a much better use of my time to continue to explore Piran by myself which I did. Generally very poor communication as both the driver and the Piran guidr seemed to have no idea of the general programme plan.
This tour was much more than we expected! Since we were there off season, it was just us on the tour with our wonderful guide. Our guide told us so much history of Slovenia, stopped for scenic views along the way to Piran (which there were many). What amazed me the most was that you can see 4 countries from the coast - Slovenia, Croatia, Italy & surprisingly Austria. The coastline is gorgeous and the small fishing villages were lovely. Piran is the jewel and we spent time on our own exploring this small town.
We really enjoyed a tour of Piran with KoperTrips. Our guide was very informative and knowledgeable. Piran is such a beautiful venetian town. I highly recommend!

Very well organized and personal. Guide was extremely knowledgable and made us feel welcomed and a part of his family. Great job!
